'Stop Sununu' busy mobilizing anti-Sununu voters

Stop Sununu officeStop Sununu officeWith one of the top U.S. Senate races in the country, New Hampshire will be flooded with groups attempting to either defeat or re-elect U.S. Sen. John E. Sununu (R-Waterville Valley).

Since August of 2007 the group, "Stop Sununu" has been signing-up volunteers and mobilizing supporters to do just that. The group is a part of the New Hampshire Democratic Party.

"It's been grassroots organizing and earned media. We really focus on what Senator Sununu has been up to for five years since he came to the Senate," said Bill Lofy, director of the Stop Sununu campaign.

Lofy said the group has seen a great response from voters and Democratic Party activists.

"What we hear from voters and activists within the Democratic Party is that people are highly enthusiastic about the Democratic candidates and they're looking for a change," Lofy added. "What we find is people have been really receptive of our organizing work."

Currently the "Stop Sununu" campaign has five staffers, with an additional staffer starting on Monday. They also have opened their own office in downtown Manchester.

Over the next couple of months New Hampshire residents can expect the group out in full force with their characteristic stop signs that read "Stop Sununu."
