NRCC invests in Horn

WASHINGTON – The National Republican Congressional Committee, faced with an increasingly difficult electoral map, is making a last-ditch effort to widen the playing field.

Today the cash-strapped committee contributed a little over $80,000 in coordinated funds to help Republican U.S. House candidate Jennifer Horn run a television advertisement targeting U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord).

"As a mom, I know it's hard to make ends meat," Horn says at the outset of the 30-second spot. "Families pay for Congress's bad economic decisions and Republicans and Democrats share blame. In Congress, Paul Hodes's committee oversees financial companies. But Paul Hodes took money from the mortgage and banking companies instead of working to avoid this crisis. And he voted to pave the way for the largest tax increase in history. We deserve better."

Horn, a former radio talk show host, is widely seen as the underdog in the race for New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District seat. Hodes is running for his second term after ousting Republican Charlie Bass in 2006.

The NRCC is allowed to spend up to $84,000 in coordinated funds with Horn’s campaign.

Democrats raced to denounce the ad and the NRCC's involvement in the race, saying that the committee has taken $400,000 in contributions from financial institutions.

"Jennifer Horn is good at saying one thing while she does another. Negative attacks and right-wing Bush talking points are what we have come to expect from Jennifer Horn," said New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Raymond Buckley. "She is biting the hand that feeds her. Bush National Republicans are funding her with the very same PAC money she is criticizing Paul Hodes for taking. New Hampshire voters deserve better."

Horn Hypocrisy

Jennifer Horn has no record so all she can do to get press is attack. Whether the attacks are true or not does not seem to matter, or that she conveniently forgets her own contributors names and professions.

I learned of this in a release from Katie List from NHDP...Thanks Katie for being on the case.

This isn't the first time Jennifer Horn attacked her opponent for the exact same thing she was doing. In the Republican Primary, Jennifer Horn lobbed charges at State Senator Bob Clegg for taking lobbyist contributions while taking contributions from the very same lobbyists she pledged not to take contributions from.

Horn Flip Flops on Lobbyist Contributions:

"When I go to Washington to represent my neighbors, I will not accept money from lobbyists. My door will always be open to the residents of the 2nd district. I will fight to end corruption, to make Congress work for the people once again, and I will always put the interests of New Hampshire before all else." [Jennifer Horn Press Release 4/1/08]

Horn's first-quarter filing with Federal Election Commission shows a $4,600 contribution on February 7 from Mark Ustin, a New York lobbyist, and another $4,600 from Carolyn Ustin at the same address. [Grante Bosse Press Release, 4/17/08; FEC.gov]

Typing error?

I hope that her ad meant "make ends meet" and not "make end's meat" as the story suggests.

I don't even want to know what the second one means.

And the NRCC is getting its money from...

An $8,000,000.00 loan from Wachovia - one of those banks that Jennifer is so angry at.

The $8,000,000.00 Loan

It is a total coincidence I am sure, that Wells Fargo won it's dealings for Wachovia over CitiGroup...and Horn got the loan...but did I miss something or isn't Wachovia one of the banks that failed in the last two weeks ?
Sombody help me here please.
