Statement by Mayor Frank Guinta regarding Community Resources for Justice, Inc. v. City of Manchester decision
MANCHESTER (April 18, 2008) – Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta made the following statement regarding the New Hampshire Supreme Court’s decision in the Community Resources for Justice, Inc. v. City of Manchester case:
“This terrible decision shows that the rights of criminals and of parolees supersede those of the law-abiding citizens of Manchester. The proposed site is within 1/10th of a mile from 100 children, as well as the Health and Welfare departments; I certainly foresee this halfway house having a chilling effect on our must vulnerable residents that need these services the most.
“Manchester has done much more than its share in helping parolees return to a normal life. Unfortunately, the Court does not, or refuses to, see this issue. As mayor, I remain committed to fighting this injustice.”
