JEANNE SHAHEEN RECEIVES SIERRA CLUB ENDORSEMENT
(Concord, NH) —Former Governor and current US Senate candidate Jeanne Shaheen today received the Sierra Club's endorsement for U.S. Senate. The Sierra Club is America's oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization and consists of more than 700,000 members nationwide. The group endorsed Shaheen because of her strong leadership on environmental issues and commitment to finding smart energy solutions.
"I am honored to be here today and grateful to have the support of the Sierra Club," Shaheen said. "We need leadership in Washington that understands the urgency of our environmental situation and the need for green policies.
"Together, we can take our country in a new direction and ensure that we leave our children a cleaner planet than the one we inherited. I am thrilled to have the endorsement of the Sierra Club and look forward to working side-by-side with them to help ensure we enact smart environmental policies."
"Given Governor Shaheen's excellent record on important environmental issues as Governor of New Hampshire, the decision was not a difficult one," said James Allmendinger, Co-Chair of the Political Committee of the New Hampshire Sierra Club. "Moreoever, during our screening process, Governor Shaheen demonstrated a depth of knowledge of and a sensitivity to the very significant environmental issues facing our country at this very critical crossroad."The man who held Hillary Clinton staffers hostage in their Rochester office last year pleaded guilty today on six B class felonies relating to that ... >
