Jeanne Shaheen's finance director has e-mailed supporters with a last minute fundraising effort to raise more money.
Louisa Whitney said the campaign has set a goal of raising $40,000 from online supporters, in April.
"We need to be ready to counter the negative attacks when they come. We have set a goal of raising $40,000 online in April to build our defenses," the e-mail said. "We are almost there. With two days left, I hope you will make a contribution today. Your money will pay for lawn signs, television ads, radio ads, and more."
At the ending of the recent fundraising period, Shaheen reported $1.8 million cash-on-hand, while U.S. Sen. John Sununu's campaign reported $4.3 million cash-on-hand.
