DERELICTION OF DUTY: SUNUNU'S RECORD ON HEALTH CARE FOR VETERANS
In Congress, Sununu has voted 28 times to cut or provide insufficient funding for health care for veterans
(Manchester, NH) - John E. Sununu has been a steadfast supporter of George Bush's war in Iraq, but he has neglected his duty to support America's veterans, voting to cut or provide insufficient funding for veterans health care an astonishing 28 times while in Congress.
"Time after time, Sununu has voted to send brave American soldiers to war, and time after time, he has turned his back on them when they return from war," said Alex Reese, press secretary for the NHDP's Coordinated Campaign. "With one hand, Sununu sends them to war, and with the other, he takes away their health care. For their sacrifice and bravery, our veterans have earned our full support, but Sununu just doesn't get it."
To date, 29,978 American soldiers have been wounded in the Iraq war alone. [Iraq Coalition Casualty Count, 5/7/08] Sununu's out of touch response to the needs of veterans has been to cut or provide insufficient funding for veterans' health care.
