Tribute to Israel on Behalf of its 60th Birthday FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Jim Steiner, Candidate for Congress 2nd Congressional District - NH
Jim Steiner, candidate for Congress, NH 2nd Congressional District, today announced his tribute to the country of Israel on behalf of the 60th birthday of the country. "Israel has been a consistent and staunch ally of the United States since its birth, and we share many close connections," stated Steiner.
Steiner, who served with Israeli paratroopers both in Israel and the United States, further said, "as a West Point graduate, it is with honor I note that the first Commander of the Israeli forces in Jerusalem, and the first Israeli General in 2000 years, was a West Pointer, COL David Marcus, aka Gen Michael Stone, West Point class of 1924. Marcus is the only West Point graduate buried at the Academy to have died while fighting under a foreign flag, the Israeli flag, to procure Israel's independence back in 1948."
Steiner maintains contacts with another Israeli general, Major General Benny Gantz, current Senior Defense Attache for the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. Both Steiner and Gantz trained together in the United States as Captains in the United States Army and were reunited in Israel during Steiner's deployments overseas as a Green Beret. They will honor Israel and the Israeli military at a dinner in Boston and then journey to West Point for a tour that will include paying respects to the late West Pointer and Israeli commander, David Marcus.
