John Stephen Signs Taxpayer Protection PledgeNational Anti-Tax Activist Joins Congressional Candidate For Signing Ceremony
MANCHESTER, NH- 1st District Congressional Candidate John Stephen today signed Americans for Tax Reform's (ATR) Taxpayer Protection Pledge.  In signing the pledge, Stephen agrees to "oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses" and "oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates."
"Our entire economic future is built around our ability to invent and create new ideas and new products," said Stephen.  "If we take away the incentive to innovate through high taxes, we are relegating our future, and our children's future to the dustbin of history.  That's why the Taxpayer Protection Pledge is so critical.  It is a statement for everyone to see that the signer is unequivocally committed to stop efforts to increase taxes and undermine our economic future."
Stephen was joined at the event by Grover Norquist, the President of Americans for Tax Reform.  The event took place at Brady-Sullivan Properties.  Arthur Sullivan, a partner at Brady-Sullivan, hosted the event and discussed the need to stop the tax increases that will take place in 2010 without changes to the current tax code.
"The tax cuts of the past decade are absolutely critical to our long-term economic growth, added Stephen.  "To get rid of them would send a clear message that we are not committed to keeping our economy strong in the short or long run.  We need to make clear that America is open for business."
