Update: McLeod running for state senate

State Rep. Martha McLeod (D-Franconia) is running for the state senate.

McLeod will be facing current state Sen. John Gallus (R-Berlin) for the District 1 seat.

She has formed a PAC with a stated purpose of "Financing Martha McLeod for State Senate."

At the time of this posting McLeod has not returned an e-mail or phone call requesting comment.

UPDATE: McLeod has officially declared that she is running for the state senate.

"The past few years have been challenging ones in the North Country," McLeod said in a press release. "As our communities steer through this transition in the North Country’s economy, I believe we need an energetic and effective voice representing us. I am running for the State Senate to give a strong voice to the North Country – particularly on issues that are so important to us here, like affordable health care, jobs, and support for small businesses and the environment."

Don't make the same mistake twice

Carol Shea Porter, Barack Obama, two names, I'm sure, Jeb Bradley and Hillary Clinton wished they never took for granted.
Martha McLeod is a well-respected individual. She is tenacious. She fights for what she believes in and cannot be bought by anyone. As a state legislator, she was willing to go up against leadership to fight for recognition of Cpl. Bruce McKay's sacrifice for his town and state and lost her leadership position for it.
No, she's not a nobody. She's somebody who has the people behind her and will give Sen. Gallus a run for his money.

McLeod's a Native

You must be a flatlander to not know that Rep. McLeod is a native to the North Country.  She not only lives in the house that she grew up in, but she was born at Littleton Hospital and went to Littleton High School.  Can't do much better than that!

Gallus makes things happen,

Gallus makes things happen, all right. He makes sure things happen that will line his pockets - the prison, the ATM trails - who benefitted from the sale of those properties?

McLeod's a winner

What Wow doesn't realize is that Rep. McLeod lives in the same house she was raised in - do your research next time.

Who will be the next senate minority leader?

Letourneau, Barnes or Roberge?

Wow

There's some serious over-reach and over-ambition going on in the NH Dems these days... first an absolute unknown (Matt Whoude?) declares in D5. Now Martha McLeod, who moved up north to Franconia like 4 years ago, is ready to go for Senate? She who opposed the leasing of Cannon and got gored by her own town's SB? She, who's husband works for Lynch (and embarrasses himself whenever he speaks.)

Pretty remarkable for her to think she can fit in in the North Country so quickly. I thought your great-grandmother's donkey had to be from Berlin to rise up there?

She's a sure loser. Houde's a sure winner. But both have heard Buckley's honeydew, and they better hope he lives up to the pitch.

Gallus Effective

John Gallus has the experience and know-how to be effective. Gallus is a fiscal conservative, McLeod is a screamin' liberal.

Home Run!

This is amazing, each day the news gets better and better for Sylvia Larsen. The North Country needs and effective senator. Martha makes things happen.
