Stop the Corruption of American Politics Claims former Sen. Warren Rudman FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:Jim Steiner, Candidate for Congress2nd Congressional District - NH
Said Sen. Rudman when honored at the Campaign Finance Reform dinner at C.R. Sparks in Bedford on Tuesday night, "money is a corrupting influence in American politics. The system has corrupted the ability to get things done." Candidate for the 2nd Cong. District Jim Steiner agrees. His website at www.joinjim2008.com has presented his opposition to special interest monies since it opened. He is the only candidate in the 2nd Cong. District who refuses political action committee donations.
Steiner was also the only candidate for the 2nd Cong. District seat in attendance at the dinner. "The only special interest group that will control me will be the people of New Hampshire that elect me," noted Steiner, "and that group is justified in having control over its own elected officials."
"Campaign for Finance Reform is a worthy and necessary bipartisan cause, with great national leadership behind it and extraordinary local support lead by John Rauh and a very capable board," said Steiner. "I support fully their efforts at getting the influence of special interest monies out of the political process." Steiner considers Rudman a role model. Both are New Hampshire Eagle scouts, and like Rudman before him, Steiner will shortly recieve the prestigious Silver Beaver award this week from the Boy Scouts. Both went on to serve in the military, including service within special operations. Both entered the legal profession, and both gained experience in the private sector in small business before seeking elective office. "Most American people are sick of special interest influence over their elected officials. I will be a drop in a large pond in entering Congress without having taken political action committee funds," said Steiner, "but that drop, together with the effort by Campaign for Finance Reform, will cause rings that impact other candidates and campaigns in the future as well."
