Carol Shea-Porter joins DCCC fundraising effort

U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) has decided to join the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's (DCCC) fundraising program, The Union Leader is reporting.

The program, Frontline, aims to help freshmen Democrats with fundraising and other political activities.

Shea-Porter originally declined to join the program but now says that Republicans have begun a negative campaign against her.

"This week, it became clear that the Republicans will not play by the New Hampshire tradition of low-cost campaigning and she has to have the ability to respond to these attacks and not let these guys mislead voters," Pia Carusone, Shea-Porter's campaign manager, told The Union Leader.

Liar!

Carol Shea Porter has just proven herself as a total liar. I never liked her, but at least I thought she was honest. She is turning her back on the people that got her elected, and recent polls show that the voters are ready to send her back to the rock she crawled out from under.

There's no lying going on here

I'm not sure what the anonymous poster is going on about. Congresswoman Shea-Porter has never turned her back on the people who elected her, and she isn't about to start now.

CSP has always said that the DCCC Frontline program was an option, if the race was getting negative. Jeb Bradley ran a dishonest, and negative ad this week. It's clear that the GOP will spare no expense in their attempt to recapture that seat.

The DCCC will help the Shea-Porter campaign raise the kind of big money required to fight back against GOP dishonesty and negativity.

Go Carol!

Come on Susan...

Nothing in Jeb's ad was dishonest, the only thing dishonest this week was the development that Carol is abandoning her roots. Seeing as you were one of the rag-tag bunch that got her elected, you should be offended that you are being replaced now by millions in shiny TV ads and slick DC consultants. I thought she was going to run a "20" campaign, like the pins all of her people have been wearing for the past year. I thought it would be a campaign of 20 people giving $20, then recruiting 20 more people to giver $20...not DC cash being funneled in by PACs and lobbyists. By joining Chris Van Hollen's program, she is abandoning you and her roots. This is not who the 1st District elected.

Perhaps you ought to watch

Perhaps you ought to watch the ad again, anonymous. Jeb Bradley begins by saying "we wanted change." Jeb wanted no part of change. He was quite content with the way things were.

Carol's supporters have always known that the re-election campaign would require a lot more money. A good candidate is willing to change and adapt to the needs of a campaign. I'd be offended if she didn't use all the tools at her disposal.

What you keep ignoring is that this was always an option. On July 22, 2007, when the Congresswoman was on Political Chowder, she addressed this possibility.

Spin all you want, Susan

CSP's Frontline Flip Flop represents a 180 degree turn for her, and symbolically it says a lot. CSP expressed distain for Frontline at several points in the past year. Not her style of politics, she said. Inconsistent with what she and her supporters are all about, she said. I suspect the UNH poll showing her losing to one Republican and in the low 40s against her other opponent has a lot more to do with her reversal than the very gentle ad that is running. The Washington crowd has known CSP's in trouble - way too liberal and too lacking in political saavy - for a long time. So have NH Dem party leaders, when they're being honest with each other. CSP's decision to abandon her principles and take the cash says a lot about how deep in trouble she is.

Wrong, Chairman.

Carol Shea-Porter made it clear a year ago on Political Chowder that she reserved the right to go on Frontline and would do so if the Republicans started putting out dishonest ads.

Jeb Bradley's decision to toss out those misleading ads on TV and radio last week just earned him or John Stephen a deserved response from the well-funded DCCC when the time comes.

I invite the NRCC to do the same in NH-01, but since they just spent one out of every five dollars they have defending a deep red seat in deep red Mississippi, and lost by eight points, I'm not holding my breath.

Yours,

Dean Barker

Fergus, you don't bring

Fergus, you don't bring rocks to a gunfight .....or is that a tasteless analogy given your recent faux pas?

Issues not hate mongering

Carol supporters are thrilled that she is willing to take more money!! We are sick and tired of the same ole Republican baiting game. People have wised up to the hateful direction of the party and don't want any part of it. A party that can not debate the issues, can not run the country! If Jeb wants to talk issues, have him do so.

Since day one it has been my

Since day one it has been my understanding that the door was always open to working on Frontline.

That has been common knowledge "inside" and out. Carol made this clear on Political Chowder last year.

Everything was contingent on how the Republicans acted.

I for one have predicted that the right wing and the RNC will pull out every dirty trick they know. (Remember how Jeb Bradley treated Martha Fuller Clark)

We've already seen ads that start with Osama Bin Ladin and end with CSP.

And John Stephen has his hands out to Abramoff pals already. He hasn't even started advertising, but with that crowd behind him I'd guess we'll be seeing David Carney Texas in NH style advertising.
( remember the Russel Prescott ads against Maggie Hassen? The "Pigs at a trough" and minorities in the welfare line backfired big time because Roger Goun and others exposed the sheer creepiness of these ads and who was responsible.

Prescott became a laughing stock.

So try as they might, the worst players in the Republican party will never see us campaign with one hand tied behind out backs.

Furgus, republicans are dog

Furgus, republicans are dog meat, and should be taken off the shelf, per your own party members. So wake up and smell the coffee. You should start to save your cash for your legal defense when the truth comes out on how your party has disregarded and abused our Constitution. Carol Shea-Porter has more integrity in her little finger than you have in your whole party. She has represented us well and we will support her. Democrats will also pick up many more seats in the house and Senate. Did you notice the results in the special elections or were you too busy to watch the weekend news cycle???

Carol Shea Hippie

All of these weirdo-liberal hippies seem to get pretty defensive about Carol Shea Porter! She was grossly unqualified to be a member of Congress when she was elected, doesn't understand the 2nd Amendment, supports socialist tax policies, and wants to surrender to the terrorists in Iraq. Jeb and John will cut taxes, support the Constitution, and vote for securing Iraq. Our children will be a lot safer if hippies like Carol Shea Porter are voted out of office!

Rubber stamp for the far left

Carol Shea Porter is merely a rubber stamp for the untra-left. She actually represents about 15% of NH who share her far left beliefs. The proof of this is the vast majority of her fundraising that comes from out of state sources rather than from locals. She should be representing Cambridge or San Francisco, not NH.

She wasted taxpayer money twice when she traveled to Iraq and intentionally ignored the positive developments that are happening there. She had no intention of changing her closeminded view of the situation and in turn humiliated the troops who are sacrificing their lives to stabilize the country. Even John Murtha has backed off of his anti-surge propaganda but Carol has not.

Now she is being funded by the same people who called General Petraeus "General Betray us" which is sickening. She promised bipartisanship but gave us left wing extremism and for that she will lose her job to John Stephen this fall.

05/20/08 10:02 am

Close minded indeed.

Independent candidate Peter Bearse ( http://www.peterbearseforcongress.com ) dinged her on this when we crashed her bogus town meeting in Epping. She then proceeded to prove him right. I've got it on video embedded at http://nhcitizen.org/csp/

She may be very loyal to her core supporters but she treats the rest of us like dog meat. She does NOT see herself as representing us all.
