Shaheen adFormer Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) has begun airing her first campaign ad.
The ad is a sixty-second television ad that focuses on Shaheen's tenure as governor and what she would do in the U.S. Senate.
"Jeanne Shaheen gets it, she puts people first. Now she's running for the Senate to change business as usual in Washington" the ad says.
It finishes with the line, "A Senator that puts New Hampshire first."
The ad is being aired for $90,000 on WMUR.
Shaheen is running for the U.S. Senate against current U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley).
Update: "Jeanne Shaheen's ad rewrites history and masks her six years of failed leadership with campaign rhetoric," New Hampshire Republican Chairman Fergus Cullen said in a statement. "Shaheen's real record was long on blue ribbon commissions but short on leadership. Her legacy includes record spending, advocacy for a 2.5 percent sales tax and the statewide property tax, and failure to solve the education funding crisis that began on her watch."
