College Democrats of New Hampshire Elect New Executive Board

(Concord, NH) College Democrats from across New Hampshire gathered in Concord for the annual CDNH convention on Sunday, May 11th.

The College Democrats of New Hampshire are an intercollegiate, student-run organization dedicated to engaging college students in the political process by bringing together groups of College Democrats from across the state. They are affiliated with the New Hampshire Democratic Party and the College Democrats of America.

The College Democrats of New Hampshire announce with great enthusiasm their new Executive Board for the 2008-2009 year.

President: Sean Doyle, Franklin Pierce University (Class of 2009)
Vice President: Courtney Merrill, Dartmouth College (Class of 2009)
Communications Director: Taylor Stevenson, Dartmouth College (Class of 2010)
Membership Director: Rachel Torman, University of New Hampshire (Class of 2009)
Finance Director: Westleigh Morin, University of New Hampshire (Class of 2011)
Political Affairs Director: Brittany Weaver, University of New Hampshire (Class of 2010)
Legislative Affairs Director: Katelyn Kerins, St. Anselm College (Class of 2009)

The convention was well attended, with former Portsmouth Mayor Steve Marchand providing the keynote address to the delegation and productive discussions among the members as to how the CDNH can better facilitate the promotion of democratic ideals throughout college campuses in New Hampshire. The members also heard from State Representative David Scannell, Executive Director of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, as well as Susie Whitlock, Director of Operations for Governor Jeanne Shaheen, and Katie Naranjo, Political Director and candidate for President of the College Democrats of America.

"In 2008, the CDNH will be committed to bringing young people together to prevent a third Bush term by working hard to make sure John McCain does not become president and that Democrats are elected at every level in November," said newly elected President Sean Doyle. "In addition, I would personally like to extend my gratitude to the previous executive board for all its hard work and dedication over the last year."

The CDNH is dedicated to helping elect the Democratic nominee for President, re-electing Governor John Lynch, Congressman Paul Hodes, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter, the Democratic Executive Council, the Democratic Majority in the State Legislature, and electing Former Governor Jeanne Shaheen to the United States Senate this November.
