Anti-McCain Mason endorses Republican Horn

Actor Jackie Mason, who has called John McCain a fraud, endorsed 2nd Congressional District candidate Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua), her campaign announced today.

Mason will be sending letters to voters in the district touting his endorsement.

“For a comedian like me, I always found her a disappointment because I always found her too preoccupied to appreciate any joke I told her. She was always too emotionally involved with projects and the problems of people she was trying to help,” the letter states. “More importantly she is not a political operative or a career politician - we have enough of them in Washington already.”

"Jackie Mason is an American icon - he has been entertaining people around the world for decades. He is one of the most patriotic people I know-his love of country is limitless,” Horn says in a press release. “ I consider myself blessed to have the support of good friends like Jackie as I take on one of the greatest challenges of my life."

Mason has starred in movies such as Caddy Shack II, The Jerk and Stiffs. He appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show the same night the Beatles debuted and is currently the host of CN8’s The Jackie Mason Show.

In the YouTube video below Mason was giving his low opinion of McCain saying, "It's disgusting to me what John McCain will do to win an election. He blatantly lied about what Romney said about timetables in Iraq, and he got away with it. The voters in Florida believed his lies. Let us hope, that the rest of the Republicans of this country don't make the same mistake. I know he is a hero, and served our great nation proudly. He made many sacrifices for our country, but when it comes to becoming President, the only thing he will sacrifice is his morality. John McCain is a fraud!"

In response Horn campaign manager Zack Condry said Horn doesn't stand behind those remarks.

"He is a comedian. He is a political commentator. Jennifer does not stand behind those statements," said Condry.

What gives him any business telling New Hampshirites how to vote?

say what?

So much for party unity. Can someone tell me why Horn is touting this endorsement? If he'd done it on his own, well that's one thing. However, Horn has this front and center on her website, and she's issued press releases about it. I'm not a big McCain fan, but I also won't work to torpedo him. Um, Horn is a Republican, right?
