CARSON FIRST FUNDRAISER – BIG SUCCESS
Republican State Representative Sharon Carson and NH Senate Candidate holds successful fundraiser in Concord last evening.
Londonderry, NH May 28, 2007 – NH Senate Candidate Sharon Carson is off to a good start in the high stakes game of running for a NH Senate seat by holding a quiet gathering of approximately two dozen high profile lobbyists and party activists.
“The ability to turn out a good crowd at mid-week event on the evening the incumbent Democratic Governor is hosting his own fundraising event is a good measure of a candidates potential as fundraiser and therefore is a good measure of her viability as a candidate,” said one attendee and financial contributor.
“I am very please to see so many friends and colleagues from the State House here this evening,” Carson said, “I really appreciate your support even before the candidate sign-up period has begun.” The norm is for many of the Concord movers and shakers to wait to see if a candidate is going to have a primary before they publically or financially support a candidate.
Carson declared her candidacy immediately following incumbent State Senator Bob Clegg’s announcing his candidacy for the 2nd Congressional District seat currently held by Democrat Paul Hodes.
While a few names have been mentioned as possible challengers to Carson, no one has yet to make any public announcements. “I have heard of one or two other names mentioned as potential candidates but it’s almost too late at this point to enter the race,” said one Carson supporter.
Many see Carson as not only as the strongest possible candidate in the district, she also is known to have unlimited financial and networking resources. Carson’s campaign has made it known she is willing to loan her campaign as much of her own money as needed to get her through any possible primary race, and she is also pulling in high profile endorsements. Among the guests attending the event include Republican Congressional candidates Bob Clegg and former 1st District Congressman Jeb Bradley, incumbent Republican State Senators and Representatives. Carson has also drawn the support of such high profile Republicans as former NH House Speaker Donna Sytek and Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta.
Carson said, “this is just the first step in a series of many necessary steps in the long road to victory in November.”
