Backus makes it official

Bob Backus (D-Manchester) has officially announced that he will run against state Sen. Ted Gatsas (R-Manchester).

"I am running to protect our New Hampshire values-to ensure that we provide not just an adequate education but an excellent education for all students, to create "green collar" jobs to improve our environment and economy, and to improve public safety by supporting our law enforcement community," Backus said in a statement. "The families of District 16 deserve attentive and responsive representation in Concord and a Senator who will fight for them."

Backus's decision sets-up a rematch of the 2006 election when Gatsas defeated Backus by 314 votes.

Backus will win!

Bob Backus was a great candidate who nearly won in '06 and will be even better in '08. He will run an energetic campaign in this swing district.

Backus is Horrible! Stop him now!

This is the idiot that protested the Seabrook nuclear plant! Why would anyone vote for someone that is so far out of the mainstream and opposed to one of the best sources of energy? Bob Backus has a horrible record on energy and is just a leftist nut-job that wants to get into the Senate to push his radical agenda. I say screw the Clamshell Alliance and reelect one of the most effective Senators in recent history!
