SENATOR TED GATSAS TO SEEK RE-ELECTION
GATSAS ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR SENATE DISTRICT 16
MANCHESTER, NH - - Amongst friends and supporters at a
reception in his honor Manchester Senator Ted Gatsas
(R-Manchester) announced last evening that he will
seek re-election to the New Hampshire State Senate.
“It’s a true honor to serve in the State Senate and
it’s a privilege to represent my constituents in
District 16. I have worked hard to make sure their
needs have a voice at the State House,” began Gatsas.
In the 2007/2008 legislative session Gatsas, in
conjunction with Democrat Majority Leader Joe Foster,
worked to pass a Constitutional Amendment on education
funding; increased the penalties and prison sentences
for gang members and voted against spending increases
that were passed on to the taxpayer through taxes and
fees.
“The State of New Hampshire is perilously close to a
financial crisis. We don’t have a revenue problem
rather we have a spending problem. In the next two
years it’s important that we look forward and get
leadership that will control spending and protect the
taxpayer,” added Gatsas.
Currently, Gatsas serves as the Republican Leader in
the State Senate and is a member of the Capital Budget
and Wildlife Committee. Gatsas was first elected to
the New Hampshire State Senate in 2000; if re-elected
this will be his fifth term serving in the New
Hampshire Legislature. He serves concurrently as the
Ward 2 Alderman in the city of Manchester.
“In the coming months I will be taking my campaign to
the streets. Going town-to-town and door-to-door to
meet the people and listen to their concerns and
solutions for the State of New Hampshire. I look
forward to it and am excited to run an energized
grassroots campaign,” concluded Gatsas.
Gatsas will formally file his candidacy with the
Secretary of State when the filing period opens
tomorrow.
Senate District 16 comprises: Bow, Candia, Dunbarton,
Hooksett and Manchester Wards 1, 2 and 12.
