Editors note: This is a daily summary of news about the U.S. Senate race between U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) and former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury).
Judy Reardon, a senior advisor to the Shaheen campaign, e-mailed supporters telling them to sign a petition against the Enron loophole.
"Lobbyists for Enron crafted the so-called ‘Enron loophole,' which allows large energy traders, such as billion-dollar hedge funds, to trade on an electronic exchange with little government oversight. This loophole allows the kind of rampant, unregulated speculation that is responsible for $40-70 of the inflated price of a barrel of oil," the e-mail states. "Tell John Sununu to stop putting the needs of billion dollar hedge funds ahead of the needs of middle class families.
