Congresswoman Shea-Porter Meets With Secretary of Veterans Affairs
Manchester — Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter (D-NH) today met with Secretary James B. Peake. The Congresswoman and Secretary discussed the problems veterans face in New Hampshire without access to a full service hospital.
“I had a very productive meeting with Secretary Peake,” said Shea-Porter. “We both agree that there is no greater priority than ensuring our nation’s veterans have the benefits they deserve. It is shameful that New Hampshire is the only state in the country without a full service VA hospital. I will continue to stand up for our nation’s military families.”
Shea-Porter has a strong record of standing up for our nation’s veterans. Last week, the House passed Shea-Porter’s legislation, the Combat Veterans Debt Elimination Act (H.R. 5155). The bill remedies the current policy that requires the government to recover debts owed by the estates of soldiers killed in combat
