Share Solutions
Concord City Councilor Rob Werner organizes Granite State colleagues to attend
DLC National Conversation
At the end of June, while most people are thinking about their summer vacation plans, Concord City Councilor Rob Werner and 16 other New Hampshire political leaders will head to Chicago to attend a conference focused on developing solutions to the toughest challenges facing the people of New Hampshire.
The New Hampshire delegation will be joining more than 300 other elected officials from across the country June 28-30 at the 2008 Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) National Conversation, a 3-day national conference where state officials and national experts discuss and compare policy ideas targeted at issues facing communities around the nation and in their home states and localities.
The National Conversation is one of the largest yearly gatherings of elected officials in the country, bringing together hundreds of officials from almost every state to compare notes, exchange ideas and discuss innovative governing strategies. Held this year in Chicago, Illinois, the Conversation will include a series of political and policy breakouts where elected officials and experts will discuss the innovative ideas being implemented across the nation, as well as national and regional political trends. Past breakouts have explored results oriented
budgeting, cutting waste, creating 21st century jobs, eliminating poverty, and much more.
In addition, the final day of the Conversation will feature a General Session where attendees will hear from leading Democrats serving in Washington and across the country. Featured speakers at the General Session will address broader themes of using progressive policies to build lasting Democratic majorities at the state and national level.
Over the course of the breakouts, meetings, and seminars, the New Hampshire delegation will focus on finding new ways to respond to challenges like climate change, energy policy, health care, and promoting economic development and job creation.
