SUNUNU COMMENDS COURT ON CLEAR AFFIRMATION
OF SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS
WASHINGTON, DC – United States Senator John Sununu (R-NH) today (6/26) issued the following statement regarding the United States Supreme Court decision to affirm the Second Amendment right to bear arms and to overturn the District of Columbia handgun ban.
“Our country’s founders understood that in granting powers to the federal government, essential rights and freedoms for the individual must be unequivocally protected. This Supreme Court decision recognizes the clear right of individuals to bear arms in protection of their family and property. The District of Columbia handgun ban was a clear violation of these Second Amendment rights, and this Supreme Court ruling gets it right.”
