Hodes, Shea-Porter split over gun ruling

U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes (D-Concord) and U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (D-Rochester) have split over the U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing individuals to own handguns.

Shea-Porter said there should be "some standards" with individual gun rights, while Hodes called the decision a "victory" for the Second Amendment.

"The Supreme Court has spoken. While I have always supported individual gun rights, I agreed with the Bush Administration that there should be some standards," Shea-Porter said in a statement. "The Supreme Court, however, sided with Vice President Cheney and others."

Hodes took the opposite view and said he applauds the ruling.

"New Hampshire has a long tradition of responsible gun ownership and sportsmen's rights. Today's ruling is a victory for defenders of the Second Amendment and Granite Staters' right to keep and bear arms. I applaud the ruling and was proud to sign an amicus brief in support of this landmark decision."

Bye Bye Carol

Hodes again showed why he will coast to re-election while Shea-Porter will get bounced from the House.

Out of Touch

Shea-Porter is so out of touch with the people of NH. I hope she enjoys her time in Washington while it lasts.
