Sununu sends out fundraising e-mail

U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) has e-mailed supporters requesting their donate money before the ending of the filing period.

Sununu is competing against former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) for the U.S. Senate.

"My opponent, Jeanne Shaheen, is receiving thousands upon thousands of dollars from union bosses, wealthy liberals, and special interest groups," the fundraising e-mail states. "Her allies, including MoveOn.org and John Kerry's Keeping America's Promise PAC, have already run despicable ads attempting to distort my record."

Shaheen e-mailed supporters this morning requesting that they raise $200,000 by the ending of the period.

Sununu also compares Shaheen's energy policy to former President Jimmy Carter.

"Only with your support will we stop Jeanne Shaheen and her agenda...higher taxes, increased spending, and a return to the failed energy policies of Jimmy Carter and the 1970's."
