National health care effort starts N.H. campaign

New Hampshire for Health Care chapter announcedNew Hampshire for Health Care chapter announcedCONCORD- A coalition of groups promoting "quality, affordable health care for all" has begun operating in the Granite State.

Health Care for America Now, a national effort led by groups such as the SEIU, AFSCME, MoveOn.org and Planned Parenthood Federation of America, announced at a press conference that they are forming a New Hampshire campaign, New Hampshire for Health Care, aimed at reaching voters throughout the state.

"We'll be working with partner organizations to talk to voters across the state and educate voters on health care issues," said John Thyng, State Director of NH for Health Care, on the steps of the State House. "We're committed to contacting all candidates on this issue and asking ‘are you with us?"

Travis Harker, a health care provider who trains doctors in a community health center, called the current health care system "broken."

"I love what I do, but our system is broken," he said. "More band-aids are not going to help the problem, we need a national solution."

Speakers also included Cathy Silber of NH Citizens Alliance, Alejandro Urrutia, a small business owner who is organizing fellow business owners with the Granite State Organizing Project, Rich Burke of AFSMCE and Lillye Ramos Spooner of the Greater Manchester AIDS Project.

Health Care

Young Sununu can't be too happy about this; it may remind citizens of his remarks dismissing the issue. There indeed is something we can do, voters care a lot about health care costs.

Quality and government are antonyms

If we could get the government out of the way, we could have more competition, lower costs, and better service. The FDA ensures high drug costs and keeps lifesaving medicines from dying patients. The legislative puppets of the AMA restrict our choices. And in NH, you have to prove to bureaucrats that you need a hospital before you can build one. It's madness.

Would you rather be able to make your own choices, or turn your family's well being over to a central bureaucracy?  If this coalition gets its way, you'll have universal mediocrity, and you'll pay dearly for it.

I'm a health care voter, too.  But I'm a health care voter for choice.

Good grief!

Health care is NOT something I want the government handling.

How about giving us back some of our tax money so we can buy our own health care?

This is more "outsider" dirty money (Soros/UN) fueling campaigns for things we don't want here in NH, such as an income tax, etc.

How many times have we heard the people in the UK and Canada talk about having to wait for months for a simple procedure?
