JEANNE SHAHEEN RECEIVES ENDORSEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL FIRE FIGHTERS OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
(Manchester, NH) – Today, Wednesday, July 9, former Governor and current candidate for US Senate Jeanne Shaheen attended a rally with New Hampshire firefighters in Manchester and received the official endorsement of the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire in the 2008 US Senate race.
The Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire represents more than 2,000 professional fire fighters, paramedics and retirees across the state of New Hampshire.
"I am incredibly honored to receive the endorsement of the Professional Fire Fighters of New Hampshire," Shaheen said. "Fire fighters never lack the courage to do their jobs and stand by us. It's time they had a government that does its job and stands by them – providing them with the tools and equipment they need to do their job safely.
"This year, we have a chance to really change the direction of this country. Washington is failing to address the challenges facing working families here in New Hampshire and across the country. Together, we can change that and take our country in a new direction."
President of the Professional Firefighters of New Hampshire Dave Lang said it was an easy choice to endorse Shaheen in the 2008 Senate race, based on her long record of support for fire fighters and first responders.
"Many candidates say they support fire fighters, but Governor Shaheen has an unparalleled record when it comes to supporting New Hampshire's families and fire fighters." Lang said. "During her three terms as Governor, Jeanne Shaheen worked closely with the fire fighters throughout her administration to provide terrorism training for more than 1,000 firefighters, paramedics and HazMat teams, improved statewide biological and chemical emergency preparedness , guaranteed health coverage for the spouse and dependents of any permanent fire fighter killed in the line of duty and toughened penalties for anyone who risks the safety and lives of fire fighters by committing hoaxes."
