U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) told The Union Leader that he has to closely examine the possibility of opening Seabrook Unit 2. The unit is a part of the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant located on the New Hampshire Seacoast but the unit has never been opened.
"I've been told, and I'm not an expert on it, but I've been told that that may have some viability," MCain told The Union Leaders' John DiStaso. "But I'd like to look at it some more."
McCain has said he would wants to build 45 nuclear power plants in the United States by 2030.
The Seabrook power plant has been fully operating since 1990.

McCain's Old ... News
Geez, I was a baby during the Seabrook brouhaha and NOW 25 years later McCain's talking about Seabrook 2?! Good luck selling that here in NH Johnny!
McCain's such a typical Republican: stuck in the 80's, mindlessly worshiping nukes and all things Reagan, Bush and Sununu.
Cue the Huey Lewis music b/c we're going BACK TO THE FUTURE!
Seabrook
If Nukes are such a good idea, why won't any company build them without subsidies and guaranties from the taxpayers?
McCain is living in the 1950's.

Just Imagine
As one of the first to oppose the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant -- I publicly opposed it the day that it was rumored to be considered so long, long ago -- I think this is a horrible idea. It sounds like just another McCain "I'm Not An Expert But..." sputter.
Sounds like he got some bad advice, again. Maybe Meldrim Thomson visited him in his dreams telling him that those of us opposed to nuclear power plants are just winers.
Can you just imagine if that $8 billion to build Seabrook One and part of Seabrook Two had instead been invested decades ago on wind power or other alternatives? Instead of building 45 nuclear plants by 2030, how about accepting Al Gore's visionary challenge to use alternative energy resources for our electric needs in the next ten years?
What about the Panama Canal Treaty?
What about school busing? What about the Jean Ratelle-for-Phil Esposito trade?
We need to know McCain's views on these cutting edge issues!
