Grant Bosse Statement on Highway Trust Fund
(Hillsboro) Republican Grant Bosse has released the following statement regarding Congressman Paul Hodes calling for Congress to spend an additional $8 billion on the federal Highway Trust Fund.
"If Paul Hodes were serious about putting more money in the Highway Trust Fund, he'd suggest a way to pay for it. Instead, Hodes just wants to spend another $8 billion. Faced with crushing gas prices because of Congress's refusal to open up American oil reserves, many drivers have cut back. This has led to lower gas tax revenues than anticipated. If we're going to make up the difference with general revenues, I can suggest at least fifty places to find that money. Why can't Paul Hodes find any room in the $3 trillion federal budget to pay for such an important priority?"
Since starting his "50 Days, 50 Ways to Cut Federal Spending" initiative last Monday, Bosse has proposed more than $7.5 Billion in specific spending cuts. For more information on Bosse's aggressive grassroots campaign, go to www.Bosse2008.com.
