LEGISLATIVE PANEL LOOKS FOR SEACOAST INPUT ON WORK, FAMILY
New Hampshire’s first Legislative Task Force on Work and Family will hold a public hearing in Room 102, at Great Bay Community College, 277 Portsmouth Ave., Stratham on Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Members of the task force are looking for information on how to keep New Hampshire businesses competitive and thriving and at the same time support employees with family commitments.
Other issues in which the task force is interested include:
· Are employers finding the skills they need in the New Hampshire work force?
· What are the most common reasons for employee absenteeism?
· Are managers in Seacoast businesses educated on work and family issues?
· What is the state’s role in recognizing businesses that offer flexible policies and benefits that support working families?
· What incentives would enable employers to promote family-friendly work policies?
· What do employees need in order to do the best they can in their workplace as well as in meeting family responsibilities?
The task force has been meeting since September 2007, gathering data and hearing from New Hampshire business leaders and experts on work and family issues in New Hampshire.
The public hearings present an additional opportunity to hear from employers and employees on how best to balance work and family schedules on a day-to-day basis.
The public is encouraged to attend. A sign-in sheet will be available for
those who wish to speak. Written comments are also welcome.
