Vets group endorse candidates

LONDONDERRY- The National Vietnam and Gulf War Veterans Coalition unveiled their New Hampshire congressional endorsements in a press conference televised live on Londonderry public access television.

The group endorsed U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley), state Sen. Bob Clegg (R-Hudson) and former Health and Human Services Commissioner John Stephen (R-Manchester), who the group endorsed earlier this summer.

"We do have big challenges ahead of us," Sununu said. "We need to make sure that our veterans' hospital in New Hampshire is a full service hospital, but I'm pleased we were able to put pressure on the secretary and expand radiation services."

The endorsements though did not come without controversy. State Rep. Al Baldasaro (R-Londonderry), who has endorsed both Clegg and former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro), called the endorsement of Stephen a "slap in the face."

"That's a slap in the face of every VFW member who voted for Jeb for citizen of the year," Baldasaro told PolitickerNH.com after the press conference.

PolitickerNH.com did not approach Baldasaro for comment on the Stephen endorsement; he offered the comment unsolicited.

there's something screwy

there's something screwy here, the NH VFW made Jeb Bradley their citizen of the year, and then some DC based organization endorsed someone else? I know the VFW, does this DC group have a NH chapter?

NO RESPECT FOR JEB BRADLEY OR SENATOR MCCAIN

Some thing is wrong with this Viet Nam Veterans group because they did not endorse Senator McCain either, who is a Viet Nam Veteran and a POW.

McCain snubs veterans

Perhaps McCain doesn't get the support of veterans groups because he doesn't support the veterans.

His voting record on veterans benefits is abysmal.

He voted against funding the troops because the bill had a withdrawal timeline. He would not support the GI bill.

Despicable, since he gets generous benefits from the government (taxpayers) as a veteran and a senator.
