Republican debate: Photo credit: PolitickerNH.comNASHUA-The rivalry between Grant Bosse (R-Hillsboro) and Jennifer Horn (R-Nashua) took center stage in a Republican debate at Nashua's City Hall.
Discussing gun rights, Bosse used a quote from Politico to criticize Horn. In the article Horn was quoted as saying she favored "common-sense restrictions to protect kids from guns," a quote that Horn says is wrong.
"I belief in common sense gun laws too, their called parents," Bosse told the crowd at the debate sponsored by the Nashua Republican Committee.
Horn countered that she was misquoted in the article.
"As has happened many times in this election Mr. Bosse is wrong," Horn said. "It's not the first time an individual has been misquoted."
In a press release after the debate, Bosse continued to hammer Horn on her stance on guns.
"I'm amazed at the shift of the political winds since the Heller decision. Even Barack Obama and Paul Hodes now say they favor the Second Amendment," Bosse added in the release. "New Hampshire voters have had enough of candidates like Jennifer Horn taking a firm stand on both sides of the issue."
During the debate, state Sen. Bob Clegg (R-Hudson) defended Congressional earmarks and said the United States should enforce immigration laws before the government builds a border fence.
"There are many times when a good idea comes up and you can't wait until the next budget," Clegg said and then cited a case when former U.S. Rep. Jeb Bradley (R-Wolfeboro) obtaining an earmark for the military to buy night vision goggles has an example of an earmark that is beneficial.
Jim Steiner (R-Concord) repeatedly cited former New Hampshire U.S. Sen. Warren Rudman as an example he would uphold in Congress. Steiner also promised that, if elected, he would serve no more than 12 years and said he personally told U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) that he would vote to give McCain a line-item veto.
After the debate Horn's campaign released a press release arguing that "only Horn can beat Hodes."
"At the end of the day, your vote on September 9th will be about who is the best person to beat Paul Hodes," Horn said in the release. "I ask you to take a look at each of us up here on this stage and ask yourself one thing: Who can beat Paul Hodes in November?"

I don't know who's got the
I don't know who's got the best shot at Hodes, but I know it isn't Jennifer Horn. Horn has no cash, no experience, no record, no business background, and no cash = no chance.
Bob Clegg demonstrated how
Bob Clegg demonstrated how much of a RINO he is despite all his paid staffers holding signs outside. Grant Bosse was just plain annoying (and a little bit like a little child). Jim Stiener was loud and irrelevant as usual. Jennifer Horn has on message and demonstrated that she is really the best one to represent the Republicans in November.
The fact is
That Grant and Jennifer are both great candidates, but Jennifer is pulling ahead. She WAS quoted by politico saying that, maybe misquoted, but she was.
Grant did a great job of putting her to the test, and she did a great job defending herself.
Anyone but the union pony elitist Clegg and that militant Steiner and we'll all be happy.
