This weekend the Democratic National Committee is set to consider a resolution that would change the party's presidential primary system, but New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley said the resolution should not be a threat to the state's first-in-the-nation primary status.
According to a statement the DNC's rules committee will study a resolution that "will be to ensure that no primary or caucus is held prior to the first Tuesday in March of 2012, with the exception of the approved pre-window states, whose contests would be held during February 2012."
"Although I have not yet seen a final version, it is my understanding the resolution should not be of any concern," Buckley wrote in an e-mail to PolitickerNH.com
Buckley said that the resolution would address moving the primary process back a month, discuss how to open the caucus system to more voters and examine the number of automatic convention delegates.
"So in the end, it seems to be fine," Buckley concluded.
Buckley added that he will be attending the meeting on Saturday with state Sen. Joe Foster (D-Nashua) and has been in contact with Gov. John Lynch, the congressional delegation and the Obama campaign.
