DENVER-- John Hutson's speech before the Democratic National Convention has been moved to Tuesday night during prime time.
Hutson, a former Republican and dean of the Franklin Pierce Law Center, was originally scheduled to speak at 6:45 p.m. today.
"They asked me to do it tonight but things went pretty well this afternoon that they decided to change it so I'd do it tomorrow evening," Hutson told PolitickerNH.com in an interview.
Hutson said his speech will focus on why as a "lifelong Republican" he is now supporting Obama.
"I'm a lifelong Republican but the Republican Party has moved and changed so I do not feel comfortable in the party," the retired Navy rear admiral said. "On the other hand there's an alternative for people."
Hutson said will he also discuss Obama's vision for America.
"He's the person that can bring this country back on course to prosperity and international standing and make us feel good about ourselves."
Hutson will deliver his speech from the Pepsi Center at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time.
