DENVER-Former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury) said at a Democratic fundraiser that she hoped U.S. Sen. John Sununu (D-Waterville Valley) would be indicted, according to First Read.
Shaheen made the comment while discussing the election and Sununu often being called the most vulnerable Republican incumbent, but later told a reporter that she met it has a joke.
Shaheen said that U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens (D-Alaska) might now be at the top of the list because of his recent indictment.
"We're hoping for an indictment against Sununu, but it hasn't happened yet," Tom Curry quoted Shaheen.
When she was asked about the comment afterwards Shaheen said, "Oh no, I was kidding. So I should probably not have said that. I was just -- trying to be funny."

Shaheen's History of Bad Humor
Was she also trying to be funny when she failed to do anything about our state's education funding as governor?
Maybe she thinks the $250 million deficit she caused is funny too.
You know what I think is funny, when a candidate for U.S. Senate thinks a solution to foreign oil dependence is to sue OPEC. Now that is VERY funny.
What a dope.
Education Funding
I chuckle, though not too much and certainly not too happily, at those who say Jeanne Shaheen didn't "solve" the education funding crisis when she was Governor -- with a Republican-led State Legislature, by the way.
So, just WHAT did the Republicans in control of the state all those years do to solve our education funding problem, other than make it worse?
And what did John Sununu (the dad) or Judd Gregg, or Craig what's-his-name, do?
If you want to spread the Marshmallow Fluff, be careful not to get your own fingers sticky.
Jim- Are any of the people
Jim- Are any of the people you mentioned up for election this year? If so feel free to examine their records similarly. If not you just sound like your whining that someone DARES to discuss the record of a candidate you favor. How bad for Democracy!!!
Understand the Education Issue
The education funding problem that pushed control to the courts and implemented the first statewide property tax in NH was created during the Claremont court case when Shaheen was in office. During Gov.'s Sununu, Gregg, and Merrill's tenure, NH schools were funded and controlled locally resulting in the best schools in the country.
Dems have controlled the executive office for 10 of the last 12 years with nothing but problems to show in the way of education. There is no way to run from that dismal record.
Shaheen
I don't know if jokes will win elections for her... http://www.enewsreference.wordpress.com
Paul, you forgot to add that
Paul, you forgot to add that the Claremont lawsuit was filed by Bill Shaheens law firm.
Jim Splaine, your bias blinds you.
