Buckley comments on Palin

DENVER-New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley says U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) must convince Americans that Gov. Sarah Palin's (R-Alaska) "extremist views" would not prevail.

McCain has selected Palin to be the Republican vice-presidential candidate.

"We anxiously await Governor Palin's introduction to America," Buckley said in a statement. "We are curious as to how Senator McCain will attempt to convince Middle America that Palin's extremist views will not prevail."

Buckley also said that Palin's selection would ensure a "third Bush term."

"Karl Rove's master plan to impose a third Bush term through McCain seems complete."

UPDATE: "Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.  Governor Palin shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies -- that's not the change we need, it's just more of the same," said Bill Burton, Obama Campaign Spokesman.

UPDATE 2: “It is pretty audacious for the Obama campaign to say that Governor Palin is not qualified to be Vice President. She has a record of accomplishment that Senator Obama simply cannot match. Governor Palin has spent her time in office shaking up government in Alaska and actually achieving results -- whether it’s taking on corruption, passing ethics reform or stopping wasteful spending and the ‘bridge to nowhere.’ Senator Obama has spent his time in office running for President.” --Jill Hazelbaker, McCain Communications Director

Ray did the high altitude get to you?

"Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience."

So what does Obama offer with regards to foreign experience? (crickets)

"We anxiously await Governor Palin's introduction to America," Buckley said in a statement. "We are curious as to how Senator McCain will attempt to convince Middle America that Palin's extremist views will not prevail."

Ray, I didn't know living a modest life, being married to a union card member who comes come from a family of fisherman (who she worked for) and whose husband now works in one of the dirtiest jobs (per Mike Rowe) is not middle America. She went to a small college (not Columbia and Harvard like BO) got married, raised a family and got involved in politics and arose through the ranks. How is that life experience not middle America and living the dream? How is she an extremeist? Is it because she is an outdoorsman, believes in small government, and goes to church?

Why not just come out and accuse her of being bitter?

More spin from Mr. Buckley, who supports nothing but an empty suit who is a supporter of an American terrorist, and a sexist. Great choice by the Dems.

Obama has more international experience than W or Clinton had

What does Obama offer in terms of foreign experience? Oh, how about trips to former Soviet Republics and resulting legislation to help account for loose nuclear material? In other words, more international experience than George W. Bush had, more than Bill Clinton had. And that's not even counting his trip this summer, or years as a youth in Indonesia.

The fact is that the Republicans have been trying to beat up Obama for having insufficient experience to be President. And now McCain is going to nominate somebody with less experience than Obama, with zero Washington or international experience at all, to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. This when McCain would be the oldest man ever to take the oath of office?

After the attacks on Obama for supposed lack of experience, and after Bobby Jindal was discarded as a potential running mate due to his youth and inexperience, it would be hard to come up with a more hypocritical pick if they had tried.

Too Funny

Lets see, where to begin. Ray let me try a little spin myself.

The DNC press release is pretty silly when you consider that a former community organizer with zero foreign policy experience is in the running for the presidency, and that former community organizer put a career, no executive exp senator, much older than he is, a heartbeat away from the presidency on his ticket.

I loved adlibs when i was younger.

Oh wait, I forgot to mention that Gov. Palin also runs the biggest state in the union, which borders two countries, with one having a ton of nukes. Lets see, she also is the CIC of the Alaska National Guard, and her current approval rating is above 80%.

So I am with Maggie-08, how is she an extremist? Unless you are calling the entire state of Alaska extremists since more than 80% approve of what she has done as Governor.

You forgot executive experience.

I guess this is just a way for the Dems to deflect that neither their Presidential and VP nominees have any executive experience. Their hallmark is now the economy and one can argue that at least Clinton and Bush had some executive experience.

My guess is, is that whoever gets elected will rely heavily on their cabinet for all matters, so the arguement on foreign policy are moot.

Fodder for the pundits

I won’t diss Palin because she is merely a pawn in McCain’s political kabuki. McCain is surely thinking of his nation first by picking Gov. Palin. Ya, right.
I had to chime in on this remark:

Oh wait, I forgot to mention that Gov. Palin also runs the biggest state in the union, which borders two countries, with one having a ton of nukes. Lets see, she also is the CIC of the Alaska National Guard,

No doubt Palin has had to closely monitor the Alaskan border to thwart covert infiltration of Canadian Mounties. And assuredly, SAC has her cellie on speed dial in case the ex-Soviet Union’s PM wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. By this logic, shouldn’t McCain have picked the Governor of the state of Georgia. Talk about a battle tested commander in chief. The Russians attacked a country that has the name Georgia. Oh! Maybe Charlie Crist? The Cubans are coming! The Cubans are coming!

…the Republican Party I once knew has become something different, something I no longer recognize. The "Grand Old Party" is no longer grand. It's just old. The same old, failed policies. The same, old Washington culture. Instead of new ideas and innovation, they offer trillion-dollar tax breaks for the very rich at the expense of the middle class, a deficit out of control and a government unable to help its most vulnerable citizens after Hurricane Katrina. – Rear Adm. John Hutson (Ret.), Bow.

Jack my friend how are you?

Jack my friend how are you? I was expecting a better rebuttal, but I will let it slide since its Friday and a long holiday weekend. Enjoy yourself.

I need something to start with

The Mounties line didn't make you grin? It took me 3 minutes to type.

See you in Milford on Monday!

Poor typing skills

I did laugh at my own joke, but I type really slow. I'm a hunt 'n peck guy. Though, way more pecker, than hunter. ;v)

Palin has extensive

Palin has extensive international experience.

When she was Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, she would have excessive dealings with the Mayor of Burwash Landing, Yukon, about how to properly cook hunted seal.

This meeting was even televised on CNN, and pre-empted the Peace Summit back in the day.

Based on John McCain's first

Based on John McCain's first choice as what he would be as President...HE CHOKED! !!!...People get a grip and keep that man as far away from the red button as possible!!

08/30/08 1:41 pm

McCain is not up to being president

This choice proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that John McCain lacks the judgement and strength to serve as president of the United States.

08/30/08 10:12 pm

Palin's experience

Palin has as much experience, and more executive level experience than the clown at the top of the Democratic ticket.

09/02/08 6:20 pm

Palin has no right to attack

Palin has no right to attack Obama the way she did in her speech, she doesn`t even know much about him. What we need to hear from her is what she is going to do for her country and we still haven`t. It seems she is being used by the Bush-Mcain campaign as their attack dog
