MINNEAPOLIS-The oldest son of U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) visited the New Hampshire delegation to thank them for their support of McCain during the primary.
"I'm here to say thanks because without the folks in New Hampshire, and the hard work from a lot of the people in this room, we wouldn't be doing what we're doing here in St. Paul," Doug McCain told delegates at their morning breakfast at the Hilton hotel.
McCain said his father's victory in New Hampshire allowed his campaign to gain momentum.
"We eke out a very narrow victory which allowed us to go back to donors and say add another zero to the check."
McCain also called Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin a "fantastic choice" for his father's vice presidential running mate.
"I have not met her yet," the younger McCain said. "I think it's a fantastic choice the argument is that she's not experienced but she has same amount of experience as the guy at the top of the other ticket. Obviously it's out-of-the-box but that's how the old man likes to do things at times."
