Dem state rep. endorses McCain

A Democratic state representative who supported U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton during the New Hampshire primary has endorsed U.S. Sen. John McCain‘s presidential campaign.

The McCain campaign announced that state Rep. Doreen Howard (D-Newmarket) endorsed McCain because he "values the importance of public service."

"As a lifelong Democrat who enthusiastically backed Hillary Clinton in the primaries, I am now supporting John McCain. Like Senator Clinton, McCain values the importance of public service. Both Clinton and McCain put country first and that's critically important," said Howard in a statement. "John McCain and Sarah Palin are mavericks who have proven they can deliver real reform. As our nation faces challenges at home and abroad, Americans will benefit from their experience, judgment and strong leadership."

McCain is scheduled to attend a NASCAR event at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday.

Not able to speak for herself?

If Doreen was so principled to turn her back on her values why didn't she bother to write her own quote? The words assigned her by the McSame/Pain campaign staff are simply campaign talking points.

Thankfully the people of NH see through this ploy and say NO to a third Bush term, his economy, oil prices, war, lack of healthcare and the culture of corruption of the Bush/Cheney/McCain/Palin/Sununu years.

Nice of her to make this

Nice of her to make this announcement right AFTER the state primary election. I hope the Democrats of Newmarket field a write-in candidate against this fraud.

Urggghhhhhh!

So everyone thought it was so funny when Rudy was picking on Obama for his community service and his time spent being a community leader, now the right is trying to twist it so they are for it.

Urrrggghhhhh! Sick of the flip flops! First she was for it before she was against it! First we are against people who perform community service, now are a for them.

Get a grip!

Looks like SOMEbody's got a hankering for a seat on Legislative Administration.

huh?

Who the heck is Doreen Howard? Public service is her reason for endorsing? She must be a big thinker.

What is the source for this

What is the source for this story? I could not even find it on McCain's homepage under the categories "press releases" or "news".

You would think this would be a huge story, but yet the only places I could find it are PUMA blogs. No major news outlets (even Fox!) or McCain's website.

Can you verify this information? Or did you post it without verification? I think we know Ms. Howard is a PUMA supporter, but do you have a source for this story?

Thank you.

Obama hacks going crazy,

Wow look at the hateful speech towards a state rep. The Obamabot campaign workers are out in full force.

So much for "free will." The Obamabots demand that we all conform or be smeared.

Good for you Rep. Howard.

Rep. Howard

Thank God that strength of character knows no party allegiance.

I'm amazed at some of the poison from the words of Obama supporters. I was lukewarm on Obama, but after seeing the reactions after the past two weeks, I think I'm staying home.

From what I hear she is not

From what I hear she is not the only one on the Democratic side to be supporting McCain. It's rather telling actually. I'm also a Democrat proudly supporting McCain.

From what I hear

While the McCant campaign is busy trying to locate the 40 or 50 disgruntled Democrat, the Obama campaign is organizing 150,000 independents. Let's see what is the smart strategy come November.

Nice to see the McCainters finally clicked on here, been wondering where they went...

I'm a proud PUMA voting for McCain/Palin, and I applaud any American who chooses Country over Party.

Those of us who were aware of how fraudulent the primary was, and how the DNC selected Obama and pushed him on their voters, are hesitant to put in office any group that is so sleazy with the voters of America.

Sorry GOPbot

We don't fall for that phoney spin anymore. There may be a couple simpletons out there but not that many. John McCain viciously attacked Hillary and even laughed when asked "what are you going to do about that b----?". People aren't as stupid as Karl Rove thinks.

Not Impressed

Not impressed, when you enclose a phrase in quotes that means you are absolutely certain that those are the exact words of the person you are quoting. You are here putting in words of a refined public servant who does not use an Obamabot vocabulary. In addition Senator McCain and Senator Clinton are good friends having often "reached across the aisle" to work on legislation. He would never use such words to describe Senator Clinton.
Senator Obama says that he would work with republicans, but he has no record of having tried to do that in his short an unproductive time in the Senate.

If you are not a PUMA you ought to be.
Stop over at pumapac.org and see for yourself.

Sorry Sami

I'm sorry Sami. I now see that you are a PUMA.
I hope that anyone else here who is a Democrat voting for McCain/Palin will come over and see what PUMA is all about.

FROM WHAT I HEAR...

FROM WHAT I HEAR, You must be a little hard of hearing as there as many sites of "disgruntled democrats " as you claim as the total number. "50" no sir, their are millions of us.

09/14/08 12:10 pm

Lies not service

I'm a Republican who recently switched because of the lies in the McCain campaign. He could just say, Palin wasn't chosen for her experience but her potential. That I could have bought.

The nail in the coffin is the sickeng "I told Congress thanks but no thanks for the bridge to nowhere" mantra. How could she just lie to her supporters over and over again. McCain is clean on earmarks, run on his record dammit. Don't make stuff up!

It makes me sick.

09/14/08 12:15 pm

MILLIONS

There are millions of Democrats who are supporting McCain. Support for Obama is support for Hamas, Chavez, Castro, Ahmadinejad, Putin and all the other destructive forces that endorse Obama. I'm casting my vote for the USA, McCain.

09/14/08 2:04 pm

Integrity

I am a PUMA and will vote for Mccain. For "What a Joke", let me clarify the difference between community organizing and public service. Community organizing is a person motivating the public to do something versus a public servant who WORKS FOR the people and THEIR interests. Obama is about "him" and Mccain is about "country". It is Obama's fault that I will vote for McCain and you bots make me feel that much better about my decision. Why do bots have to have everyone in 100% agreement?

I applaud Rep. Howard for thinking for herself. What makes you think you know more than a person who has political experience? Is that channeled from the One?

09/14/08 4:01 pm

Hola' puma people

I'm still thinking the so called puma people are actually GOP campaign staff.... still looking to stir it up. Trouble makers! I would think the "puma" people would actually be more inclined for Nader or Barr. It's a mystery!

09/14/08 8:23 pm

Of course they are...

It those same odd balls that chase Democrats around with their Radio Shack cameras shouting at them trying to provoke them. They are hangers-on hired guns with nothing else to do but behave in a Nixonian-Rove style of slimey politics.

My Party Has Been Hijacked !!!

The Democratic Party that I have supported for years has been hijacked by the left wing loonies.
As my old boss used to say, “Promises are a poor substitute for performance”. The New Democratic Party is long on promises and short on performance. The record gives one pause. This is the party of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and those who mindlessly obey their dictates (the “Flying Monkeys”) whose 9% approval rating was earned by delaying troop support funding legislation with “Pull Out Date” provisions and pronouncing that “the war was lost, run away, run away”, in other words, giving aid and comfort to the enemy. In other conflicts this would be called by its real name - Treason. We all remember “You Can’t Drill your way out of the energy crisis” Now that 70% of Americans favor off shore drilling to augment our oil supply while the technology for alternative energy sources is matured, suddenly the Dems “favor” off shore drilling. But true to their left wing loony roots, they only favor drilling 50 miles out where only12% of the reserves exist, and only then when it’s too late to get the Senate (Harry Reid of “the War is lost” fame) to act before yet another vacation. Congress earned their 9% favorable rating for inaction - promises but not performance. And now the sudden cry for regulation to stop the Wall Street Bandits from bilking America out of its savings. So where was Rangel the chair of the Banking Committee when regulation was needed? He was off feathering his nest and not watching the store. I long for the return of my party - the Democratic Party of John Kennedy and Harry Truman. Until then for me it’s John McCain with a record of performance over a rock star and his promises to be funded on the back of the taxpayer.
