Congressman Paul Hodes Votes to Protect Second Amendment Rights
Washington, DC--- Today, Congressman Paul Hodes voted to uphold the Second Amendment rights of gun owners in our nation’s capital and across the country. Congressman Hodes voted for the Childers Amendment to HR 6842 that will expand Second Amendment rights in our nation’s capitol and honor the Supreme Court decision that guarantees every American the right to bear arms.
Congressman Hodes signed an amicus brief in support of the landmark Heller decision and is an ardent supporter of the Second Amendment.
“Granite Staters have a long tradition of responsible gun ownership and sportsmen's rights,” Congressman Paul Hodes said. “The Supreme Court’s decision in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller affirmed these rights by striking down the DC ban on handguns. I was proud to sign an amicus brief in support of this landmark decision.
This amendment will prevent the federal government or any government entity from excessively regulating firearm ownership and infringing on our civil liberties. Today’s vote honors New Hampshire’s longstanding tradition of firearm ownership and prevents the government from taking away our cherished rights.”
