MANCHESTER -- Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said that Executive Councilor Ray Wieczorek (R-Manchester) will be remembered in Granite State politics for his ability to build the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester.
"The Verizon Wireless Arena is one of his greatest achievements because it's one of those things that's a profile-in-courage, in the sense that he took a great risk in his political career, it hurt for awhile," Giuliani said. "Now in retrospect it looks like everyone agrees he made the right decision even the people who were attacking him back then."
Wieczorek quipped, "That's exactly right, I see them sitting in the arena."
Wieczorek, a former mayor of Manchester, pushed for the construction of the arena in the late 1990s amid worries that the city would not be able to afford the project costs.

Thanks Ray...for nothing!
Old Ray likes to pat himself on the back for forcing the property taxpayers of Manchester to pay for his monument. Each man, woman and child pays $140 a year in taxes to pay for the Arena. Most of the attendees are from out of the city who don't pay a dime! No other city of 100,000 in the country has built an arena on the backs of their city taxpayers alone! Ray didn't want the state or anyone else involved because he was obsessed with being able to take all the credit. His ego has already cost my family $1,000.
Wieczorek took McCain's mom to the prom..
I was told that Ray took Roberta Wright to the class of '30 High School prom. Seriously.
