Sununu manager says campaign signs have been destroyed

U.S. Sen. John Sununu's campaign manager has e-mailed supporters requesting a donation that will allow the campaign to buy more campaign signs.

Paul Collins, Sununu's campaign manager, told supporters that Sununu signs have been destroyed and defaced throughout the state.

"Perhaps frustrated by the failure of such tactics to stop the momentum of Team Sununu, opponents of Senator John Sununu have now turned to vandalism, graffiti, and theft," Collins wrote in an e-mail. "Thousands of dollars of Sununu signs across New Hampshire have been defaced, destroyed, or just disappeared."

The Shaheen campaign said they have nothing to the incident.

"Our campaign would never condone that kind of activity and it is disappointing that Sununu's campaign would immediately leap to this kind of desperate attack," said Kate Bedingfield, Shaheen's communications director.

The request for donations comes on the last day of the third-quarter fundraising period.

The Shaheen campaign doesn't have to 'condone' anything. The sheer fact that this is the KIND OF PEOPLE who support her is very telling. They do it FOR HER, ON HER BEHALF.

If she can't control them, what else CAN'T SHE DO?

Large signs have been cut from their frames, and others defaced with paint. I've turned in a few people myself for these dastardly deeds.

I suppose these same folks are supporting a presidential candidate who is friendly with cop killers and people who bombed the capitol building too.

Ok, let's pretend that other defaced signs don't exsist!

What about the John Lynch sign in Wakefield spray painted Red? What about the Sandi White in Conway whose signs were destoryed and dumped in her driveway?

Heck, I had a sign in my yard taken out by a peach thrown from a car.

The idea that Sununu does not have the money to pay for more signs if he wants to is silly. What does he have? $5 million? That buys a lot of signs.

Not that many here are above partisanship, but you take it to a new low with every post.

I spend my time here, blogging for Obama and others. It is fun sometimes to tangle with conservatives like DFM. You, on the other hand, are the worse kind. It is hard to tell if you are a fringer, trying to make the GOP look bad or if you truly are the GOoPer cliche that my progressive friends love to prattle about.

You represent all that is sick with politics. John McCain would puke, if he knew of your words. And if he loses, it will, in part, because he failed to shutdown the hatemongers and filthbuckets that bring a stench to the public square.

Like that doesn't happen every year to Republican signs! And of course the Democrats always claim to have nothing to do with it. Just like the Democrats had nothing to do with it when a staffer was caught stealing signs and was followed - with the signs in his car - to none other than Kathy Sullivan's house!!

Shocking, simply shocking!

Now there will be those who will flame me for this post, but the fact remains that the Sununu signs are being systematically vandalized throughout the state. That sounds organized to me… Jeanne Shaheen should tell her supporters to stop this, now!
This will only escalate into sign warfare; this does no one any good and takes away from the issues that are important to NH Voters.

It is not just Sununu's signs being destroyed, taken or defaced, I have personally lost over 75 signs that were placed legally,but have not complained, also I have spoken to a lot of Democrats whose signs have been taken lately, message to all , leave candidates signs alone.

I had my McCain 4x8 torn down and a stake used to support it jabbed through the middle of the sign. The same night about 1 mile away $20k in vandalism damage was done to the Seacoast United soccer field in Epping. Ah yes the exuberance of the young left wing generation as they enter the political realm!

Every election cycle signs are destroyed, dismembered and disappeared. It happens to Republican and Democrats and realtors and anyone else who advertises with yard signs. I am not condoning the activity, but campaigns are well aware of the fact and well prepared to deal with it.

Some signs are destroyed or removed by party hacks, but many are just taken out by wind, the highway department or folks who hate to see our landscape dotted with mini-billboards. To claim that you are being singled out is ludicrous and a transparent plea for free press.

Keep your signs respectfully small and in private yards and I bet your retention rate doubles...
