Lingle campaigns in Granite State

CONCORD-- Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle said she has never met Barack Obama, despite the fact that Obama was born in Hawaii and went to high school in the state.

"Barack Obama was born in my state and went to school there yet as a United States Senator I've never met him," Lingle said at the opening of a Republican office. "On the other hand when Senator McCain visits the state he comes and sits down with me."

Lingle also said that she will be with Gov. Sarah Palin on Thursday when she debates U.S. Sen. Joe Biden.

"No matter what she's going to stand-up and fight for average people," Lingle said.

She will also campaign for the Republican presidential ticket in Michigan and Ohio.

Lingle said her visit was not an indication that she interested in running for president.

"No, it's an indication of my support for Senator McCain and Governor Palin."

Tomorrow Lingle will campaign in Hanover and Claremont.

This is laughable.

Obama has visited Hawaii several times in very recent memory, to spend time with family, but he hasn't met with Hawaii's Governor, who is actively campaigning against him.

And why would he need to, as a Senator from Illinois? What's the occasion? What does his having grown up in Hawaii have to do with meeting the sitting Governor? Or is it necessary for every Senator to seek out and meet with every Governor? Don't forget that McCain had only met Sarah Palin once before he nominated her for Vice President, and that was at a meeting of the National Governors Association in Washington, DC.

Some facts:

Obama has campaign offices in Hawaii. McCain does not.

Kerry beat Bush in Hawaii by 9 points. Obama leads McCain in Hawaii by more than 30 points.
