NH Sierra Club Endorses Lynch, 122 Candidates for State Office
CONCORD, NH—The New Hampshire Chapter of the Sierra Club has released its list of endorsed candidates running for New Hampshire state offices in the 2008 elections. The endorsements include 106 NH State Representatives, 14 State Senators, 2 Executive Councilors and the incumbent Governor John Lynch. Of the total 123 endorsed candidates, fifty-two are women and 71 men. They all share the same value: to care for the environment when they vote in the State House.
“We are very please to announce today that the New Hampshire Sierra Club officially endorses for election these environmental champions of our state,” said Jerry Curran, the Political Chair for the New Hampshire Chapter.
“These candidates are our best hope for preserving clean air and clean water and protecting the wild places for the people of New Hampshire,” stated Curran. “The incumbents worked hard to protect the clean air of our state when they voted to ban the burning of Construction and Demolition debris. They supported the Governor John Lynch’s effort to join the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. The new candidates showed their support for key environmental issues facing the state and demonstrated creativity to solve current problems.”
“They were selected for endorsement based on responses to an in-depth questionnaire, voting record, and history of environmental involvement. Endorsement by the NH Sierra Club gives the candidates access to the Sierra Club’s New Hampshire membership list and in some cases volunteers to help with their campaigns and financial support.”
The Sierra Club has now endorsed John Lynch in all three of his gubernatorial Campaigns. The list of all of the endorsed candidates is included here and appears on the website or cut and paste http://action.sierraclub.org/site/PageServer?pagename=NH_2008Endorsements&JServSessionIdr001=rspdv23rq1.app25a.
