Analysts say economy gives edge to Dems
By Brian Lawson, PolitickerNH.com ReporterEconomic uncertainty among voters has given an edge to the Democratic ticket, according to New Hampshire political analysts.
"Certainly the last two weeks have been terrible for the Republican Party from John McCain down," said Dante Scala, UNH professor and PolitickerNH.com columnist, told The Associated Press.
Scala added, "With Obama now holding a 5, 6, or 7-point lead nationally, that has reverberations down the ticket."

It’s great to be an American where we can agree to disagree, so when you get a chance thank all those Veterans out there who protect your FREEDOMS.
I think the Democrats need to wake up and smell the coffee! Can anyone tell me what credentials Barack Hussein Obama has? What has he accomplished besides using loop holes to take out his competition and let's not forget his association with criminals?
I hope the pressure does not get to him and he goes back to Crack Cocaine, yes he is a real intelligent guy, an example that you might want for your kids, not me.
Senator Barack Hussein Obama credentials and judgment is in question and like many Obama Pied Piper followers, they really do not have a clue on what Obama will do to our economy and not to forget what he will do to our military with his cut and run, white flag mentality.

I saw you at the Londonderry polls wearing a very innapropriate Obama/Osama button. Being that you are a state rep, I was very rattled at this, for it seems to go against state constitution? At least the way I read it. I wish you could loose the hate, and stick to the facts. Loose the smears and you would be much more respected in your attacks/accusations.

At Fort McNair, an army base located along the Potomac River in the nation's capital, a chance reunion takes place one day between two former POWs. It's the spring of 1974, and Navy commander John Sidney McCain III has returned home from the experience in Hanoi that, according to legend, transformed him from a callow and reckless youth into a serious man of patriotism and purpose. Walking along the grounds at Fort McNair, McCain runs into John Dramesi, an Air Force lieutenant colonel who was also imprisoned and tortured in Vietnam.
McCain is studying at the National War College, a prestigious graduate program he had to pull strings with the Secretary of the Navy to get into. Dramesi is enrolled, on his own merit, at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in the building next door.
There's a distance between the two men that belies their shared experience in North Vietnam — call it an honor gap. Like many American POWs, McCain broke down under torture and offered a "confession" to his North Vietnamese captors. Dramesi, in contrast, attempted two daring escapes. For the second he was brutalized for a month with daily torture sessions that nearly killed him. His partner in the escape, Lt. Col. Ed Atterberry, didn't survive the mistreatment. But Dramesi never said a disloyal word, and for his heroism was awarded two Air Force Crosses, one of the service's highest distinctions. McCain would later hail him as "one of the toughest guys I've ever met."
On the grounds between the two brick colleges, the chitchat between the scion of four-star admirals and the son of a prizefighter turns to their academic travels; both colleges sponsor a trip abroad for young officers to network with military and political leaders in a distant corner of the globe.
"I'm going to the Middle East," Dramesi says. "Turkey, Kuwait, Lebanon, Iran."
"Why are you going to the Middle East?" McCain asks, dismissively.
"It's a place we're probably going to have some problems," Dramesi says.
"Why? Where are you going to, John?"
"Oh, I'm going to Rio."
"What the hell are you going to Rio for?"
McCain, a married father of three, shrugs.
"I got a better chance of getting laid."
Dramesi, who went on to serve as chief war planner for U.S. Air Forces in Europe and commander of a wing of the Strategic Air Command, was not surprised. "McCain says his life changed while he was in Vietnam, and he is now a different man," Dramesi says today. "But he's still the undisciplined, spoiled brat that he was when he went in."

The McCain-Palin ticket is a major party Presidential ticket in the United States of America, and deserves better, more thoughtful, more respectable advocating than what is being provided here.
In all fairness to ALB, though, the McCain-Palin campaign is at least as inane as what he's saying.

A Message to Al
My point to you ALB is that I ought to see that my representatives act in a certain way, and demand a certain level of dignity. I am demanding that instead of wearing "smear gear", try finding something good to say about your own candidate, or is that difficult? I was just really freaked out to see a state rep wearing that, it just doesn't seem right.
Politics is a serious thing, and ought to be treated as such. No room for immature actions when so much is at stake.
I wish the very best for my country I really do and I expect great things from those who have been entrusted by the American people to represent them.
