MANCHESTER--The ads have swamped the airwaves and today ads from outside groups became the focus on the debate between U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley) and former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-Madbury).
Both candidates criticized their rival for ads that are being aired by groups such as the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
"We've seen a lot of attack ads in this campaign, so far, and I know that John Sununu and his friends have made a lot of charges against me about taxes."Shaheen said at a forum sponsored by the Business and Industry Association. "But those of you who have worked with me you know that I opposed an income tax when I was governor. I stood-up against my own party and threatened to veto an income tax in a way that prevented a tax from being enacted."
Sununu took issue with ads being sponsored by the DSCC.
"Chuck Schumer whose running $10 million, talk about negative ads, $10 million Chuck Schumer is running here in New Hampshire with the Democratic Senatorial Committee against me, more than any other Senator," Sununu said. "He is using that $10 million to scare senior citizens."
The two also discussed energy, the financial bailout, health care and tax cuts.

What a dodge
Shaheen totally dodged the question about the Employee Free Choice Act.
Shaheen is clueless
It seemed to me that Senator Sununu knew exactly what the consequences of the Employee Free Choice Act would be, but Shaheen gave a rambling pointless answer (as usual) about support workers right to organize. Does Jeanne understand that it isn't about the right to organize, it's about their right to privacy and a secret ballot. Does Jeanne support intimidation by the union boss thug types?
The Tax Queen
Shaheen also wouldn't /couldn't name what programs she or Obama would cut to pay for the increases in current or new programs in their plan.
