NH Dems face DNC delegate choice

In their upcoming State Convention, New Hampshire Democrats will get to vote for a new Democratic National Committee (DNC) person and will see a challenge for their other at-large seat.

The Union Leader is reporting that Anita Freedman has decided that she will not seek reelection to her post as DNC Committeewoman. Freedman has represented New Hampshire on the DNC since 1985.

Former New Hampshire Democratic Chairwoman Kathy Sullivan has decided that she will compete for the position.

New Hampshire's second seat is currently filled by Merrimack resident Gaetan DiGangi. DiGangi has said that he intends to seek to his position.

State Senator Peter Burling (D-Cornish) and former Democratic Party Executive Director Bob Quinn have said they are interested in challenging DiGangi.

DNC rules stipulate that states must fill the at-large seats with one man and one woman.

Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley and vice chair State Senator Martha Fuller Clark (D-Portsmouth) also represent the Granite State on the DNC.
