Green groups target Sununu

Environmental groups are attempting to garner the support of U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-Waterville Valley), for two bills the Senate is considering.

One bill would divert oil subsidies to fund renewable energy sources and another bill would introduce a cap-and-trade emission system.

"Lobbyists hope a solid grass-roots movement will be instrumental in capturing the support of Sen. John Sununu of New Hampshire and other Republicans who have been unpredictable in their climate-change votes," The Politico reports.

The Sierra Club, Green Peace and the Environmental Defense Fund are planning campaigns to target key congressional races throughout the country.
