Bob Bruce (D-Candia) is planning to challenge Republican Executive Councilor Ray Wieczorek (R-Manchester), in November.
"I am running because I believe that District 4 deserves a positive, efficient and proactive Executive Councilor representing them," Bruce said in a campaign statement.
Running on a slogan of "Send a neighbor, not a politician" Bruce said his priorities would include developing transportation plans and securing responsible contracts.
He added, "The issues we face are New Hampshire issues not political ones and I plan on working with state leadership in moving a pro-NH agenda forward."
He is currently in the process of establishing a fundraising operation, organizing support, updating his website and will soon be releasing a list of endorsements.
Bruce ran in 2006 but was defeated in the Democratic primary by Paul Martineau.
