A former field staffer for Mitt Romney's presidential campaign is the state Republican Party's new political director.
Tom DeRosa worked in Grafton and Coos Counties for Romney in the seven months leading up to the presidential primary. Prior to that he worked for former New York Gov. George Pataki's political action committee.
DeRosa is a graduate of Saint Anselm College. He started at the party this week.

Who should they hire?
OK. You have both made your points- but while all you do is complain you offer no real suggestions as to who else should be hired.
Typical.
And MY Point
Is that if the Romney staff does for Fergus what they did for Romney, we are ALL in trouble. How many millions were spent? How many days did he spend here? How many points did they drop in the closing weeks? They shouldn't be hired to organize a car wash.
My Point
My point isn't about Rudy's people having jobs or not, it's about your claim that McCain's staff was larger. Rudy ran a horrible campaign and even with more staff and more ad dollars than McCain he was beaten by Huck neck and neck with Ron Paul. It is a source of pride for the McCain campaign that they won NH and the nomination on a shoe-string ad budget and a bare-bones staff (only 10 paid NH based). I just hope that the state party had staffers that represent other interests than Mitt Romney, our party cannot afford to have him as the nominee in 2012.
You have 1 point
Yes Jeff Grapponne was forgotten, but he has a job doesnt he?
Jennifer Hallowell, Catherine Hirko, Albert Ribeiro, Megan Robertson, Taylor Landin, Kevin Conroy, and Chris McDonald have ALL either left state or are doing other projects already.
So which ones do you want hired?
There were more Rudy staffers
You forgot Jennifer Hallowell, Catherine Hirko, Albert Ribeiro, Megan Robertson, Taylor Landin, Kevin Conroy, Chris McDonald, Jeff Grappone, and the fact that Meridian Communications was brought on as consultants, adding a few more people. Rudy had all of this staff and still came in 4th behind Huckabee.
Huh?
That is simply not true. Just because someone doesn't have a NH address doesn't mean they werent a NH employee.
The point being what Rudy staffers would you like included? Most all of them were from out of state- lets name those that are still in NH.
Jeff Semprini, Dave Tille, David Chesley, Jim Wieczorek. Were there more?
Jeff and his dad Wayne hate Fergus because, well Wayne still thinks he was a good state chairman.
Dave works for Meridian.
Chesley works for Horn.
Wieczorek said all along he wanted to return to the insurance company, where he makes far more money.
So that leaves Jeff. I wonder who the one making all the fuss has been. Wayne dont you have something better to do?
McCain Staff
John McCain only had 10 paid staffers in NH, not even close to be the largest or second largest. Rudy's staff was larger than McCain's and maybe some of them should be involved in the new state party staff. I have no problem with Tom DeRosa, but I'm getting the feeling that the Romney strategy is to control the state party until he starts his campaign up again in a year or 2.
Who do you think is available?
Which staffers do you think don't have jobs?
The Romney and McCain staffs were the biggest in the state and with all of the McCain staffers having jobs for obvious reasons and the Huckabee staff tied up with Clegg and Bradley it leaves Rudy and Romney staff. Rudy had only a few staffers from within NH and most already have jobs which leaves Romney staff.
Get a clue.
I've had the pleasure of
I've had the pleasure of working with Tommy D on multiple projects and am thrilled he has stayed in NH to continue what will be a hugely successful career. Smart, talented, a hard worker and a great asset to whomever he works for.
New Romney GOP (NRGOP)?
How many more Romney workers is Fergus going to hire? Jamie Burnett, Mike Hamilton, Tom DeRosa. Aren't there people from other backgrounds the party could hire?
Huh?
How is Tom or how have any of the candidates been "failed staffers"? It seems like they have all been pretty talented- though there just arent enough of them.
Another?
Does it really matter how many failed staffers Fergus hires to move around the deck chairs on the Titanic?
DeRosa
I first worked with DeRosa when he worked for Frank Guinta in his first race for Mayor. He is smart and hard worker and understands grassroots. He will be a great asset to the party. He will certainly supplement all the work that the McCain staffers are doing at party HQ.
