Democrats approve impeachment resolution

MANCHESTER -- At their annual state convention Democrats approved a resolution asking Congress to begin impeachment procedures against President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

The resolution, offered by the Newbury Democratic Committee, had very little debate at the state party convention, but several activists worked the crowd throughout the day and said they expected some controversy.

In the end the vote was 110 to 88 in favor of the impeachment resolution. State Democratic Chairman Ray Buckley voted in favor of the resolution during the voice vote. State Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-Exeter) was against it.

Recently the Democratic controlled Legislature did not pass the same resolution.

State Rep. Betty Hall (D-Brookline), a cause celeb for the issue, introduced the issue to the partially full convention call.

Following Hall an activist from Amherst sang a song called "Impeach The Bastards".

The Angry & Extreme

The angry, extreme left wing is firmly in control of the NH Democratic Party. Barack Obama can try all he wants to frame his candidacy about hope, but it is hate and anger that drives the Democratic base.

Angry And Extreme?

So let me understand Fergus. It is "angry and extreme" to be appalled by an administration that lied to us about Iraq, distributed information it knew not to be true, got rid of its inside critics so that everyone would be on board with the Iraq Invasion, and engaged in a war that has killed more than 4,000 of our brave American soldiers, and hundreds of thousands of others, with no end in sight?

Shame that anyone would call that to be anger or extreme. What is disgusting is that Bush and Cheney haven't been impeached yet by members of their own party.

But then again, even Richard Nixon had supporters within the Republican Party on the day he finally resigned on August 8, 1974.

Yes, Angry & Extreme

Representative -

Does every policy disagreement really rise to the level of impeachment? That's a very extreme position, well out of the mainstream. The anger and hate that roils the left blinds the activists who dominate your party. Your party wastes its time and energy debating impeachment, while positioning yourselves well outside the mainstream. Keep it up.

Hate and anger?

If you are looking for the party of 'hate and anger', take a look in your own backyard Mr. Chairman.

Fergus! As a New Hampshire Democrat, I'd like to thank you...

...for being one of the best players on our team.

And by the way, did you support the Clinton impeachment? Yes? Then you really have no standing to whine about calls for impeachment.

More to the point, though, polling shows that a majority of Americans believe President Bush has committed impeachable offenses.  Glad to know just how out of touch you are, Mr. Chairman; it seems every time you open your mouth it's just manna from heaven for us Dems.

This resolution is not needed

This resolution is not needed and is over the top. There is not even the time left to follow through with impeachment proceedings. Democrats should take note of how the Clinton Impeachment hurt the GOP and will hurt them as well. Washington in-fighting in the late 90s took our eyes off the growing threat of terror leading up to 9/11. Bush's punishment for his incompetent execution of this war will be his undeniable status as one of our worst presidents ever. The Republican Party has payed a price at the voting booth for supporting Bush as he arrogantly pursued this failed strategy.

That being said, it doesn't mean we should just pull out and let Iraq slip into murderous chaos like we did in Southeast Asia in the 70s. We have a responsibility to follow through on the situation we created in Iraq. That is why it is so important to not allow Obama and the extreme left wing to take control of our government. Not only will they allow the Middle East to descend into chaos making $10/gallon gas a reality, they will raise taxes and spending making economic recovery almost impossible. We need to have strong fiscal conservatives like John McCain and John Stephen leading us so that we can chart a course back to foreign policy and budgetary sanity. dennisacton@yahoo.com

So let me get this straight

It is "extreme" to support habeus corpus.
It is "extreme" to fight "extreme rendition" flights.
It is "extreme" to say the President is not allowed to decide what laws he follows and what laws he ignores.

Then yes, I am an extremist! And, since you have apparently forgotten, this country was *built* by "extremists" -- people who thought holding accused prisoners without trial was wrong; people who thought that all men at every level should be subject to the Rule of Law; people who thought that there should be freedom for all religions, not just the most popular ones.

Go ahead. Call me an "extremist" again -- make my day! :)

Bill Clinton is a convicted

Bill Clinton is a convicted criminal and guilty of impeachable offences. You left-wing wacko's are of the OPINION that GWB is guilty of impeachable offences, how ever the facts and the law does not support you crazy OPINIONS! Impeachment was never designed as a tool political attack........so maybe the NH Dems should spend some time doing something constructive like voter ID legistlation to ensure that people who live in Mass. can no longer drive across our boarder and vote in NH elections. Oohhh that's right, with out those Ma. votes the Dem's would have never been elected becouse they certinly don't represent the values of people of the great state of New Hampshire.
