If not Kenney, who? The 62 NH Republicans who would get at least 18 percent against Lynch this year

The University of New Hampshire poll this week showed Republican gubernatorial candidate Joe Kenney receiving a whopping 17 percent of support against Democratic Gov. John Lynch. Given Lynch's approval rating (75 percent) some argue that no one could do better than that. I disagree.

Below is a non-comprehensive list of 62 New Hampshire Republicans we think would at least get 18 percent. Surely U.S. Sens. John E. Sununu and John McCain have their own wish lists. Use the comment section to argue how wrong I was or who I stupidly left off.

None of these listed....

None of these listed would make an ass of themselves by saying "Watch out, this Marine is coming for you".

I think Joe thinks the election should be decided in an Ultimate Fighting Championship fight!

That statement did a true disservice to the Marines and anyone else who ever wore the uniform of the Corps!

The only thing that has kept this race interesting is hearing about all the GOPers crossing the line and seeing the light! That and all the great soundbits from Joe!

what a nonsense

another fabricated poll
what had lynch ever did for the country
i like to know how many times he went to war

shame on you but that you don't respect people who serve the country and yes a lot are in bed with lynch because of name and money and you too you must be so proud that the state is bankcrupt that makes him so popular

09/27/08 3:11 pm

James, Great post. firstly,

James,

Great post. firstly, I don't think everyone on your list would get past 18%; David Vicinanzo, Dan Philbrick, Emile Buelieu, Rick Russman, and Jack Heath to name a few wouldn't make it 15%.

Some others you missed: The more obvious of Jennifer Horn and Jeb Bradley. Also Ray Burton, Kathy Gregg, Dan Linehan, Dean Kamen would all do better than Kenney.

Now class..

Jessica and Jaun,

I know it is the weekend, but you two have a lot of homework to do for my 3rd grade class. I sent you home with two book reports that are due Monday!

We also need to work on your spelling and grammer this week.

I'll see you two in dention on Monday afternoon.

Thanks kids,

Ms. Johnson

09/27/08 3:19 pm

waste time

if you take money from special intrest groups you have enough to pay staff for wasting time so that's why the state is banckrupt he could better help save the boy with the liver transplant then he was a hero today but no paying big money for adds is more important

09/27/08 3:40 pm

always a bridesmaid

I'll bet Fran Wedlebloe has read this post a thousand times and emailed it to her many tens of supporters! I wish you media types would stop feeding her delusions of grandeur...

Pinhead

Hey James, this article is out of line. Nothing better to come up with in that tiny pea-brain, so you have to write a mean-spirited article?

James "Pinhead" Pindell

09/27/08 5:09 pm

money

well they get paid for this and the fabricated polls so why not???
they want only power and money
if you are honest work hard serve your country volunteer that doesn't count
because you have no name and money
if you let a kid die don't help with transplant bankcrupt the state
give your buddy's high paid jobs you have name recognition and you are well liked
so you will have high approval ratings because they call the same dumn people

09/27/08 5:28 pm

marriage is between 2 women and 2 man and if
they go to jail they can get married there
because that is the law and if you need a transplant and you have no money just simple die.............only millions for ads on tv is important
no serving the country

09/27/08 5:32 pm

Poor Sherm

Five sitting state reps. are on the list: Hager, Styles, Wendelboe, Hess & Quandt. Sorry Sherm, you no makka da list.

Fungus Cullen? LMAO. He couldn't get 17% in a Republican primary.

09/27/08 9:02 pm

Styles?

Styles? You mean Stiles.
And how the heck does she make your list as someone who'd get more votes than Kenney?
At lease Kenney is honorable and respected, that alone gets him more votes than Stiles ever would.

09/28/08 11:08 am

Alternate Reality

In what universe is Joe Kenney such a "respected" guy?

He was nearly defeated by an unfunded first time Democrat in 2006.

During his years at the State House he has no major legislation passed. He offered no expertise or leadership on any issues. He was lower than a backbencher he was a joke.

For 22 months he and his pal Casey have tramped the state and have yet to raise $100,000.

Joe's campaign is joke. His record (or lack thereof) is a joke.

09/28/08 12:20 pm

What are you smoking, Jimbo?

Who the hell is Michael Kane?

Joe Petrone is dotty.

Ruth Griffin is dotty and crooked.

Nancy Stiles is a do-nothing rep.

Russman and Hager aren't really Republicans.

Grant Bosse couldn't break double-digits in his primary.

And a bunch of the other names (Vicinanzo, Giles, Ashooh) are only on the list because they are wealthy and run in the right elitist social circles.

09/28/08 1:47 pm

re:anynomous

how much is lynch paying you for lying? oh a proud democrat that the state is bankcrupt and you must be in with lynch illegal deals you must be one from his special interest groups well well you follow everything from kenney at least he is respected and did more for the state then lynch and has much more experience lynch is only there because he has money
jealousy is an illness

09/28/08 6:04 pm

the MARINES don't have
that problem

president ronald reagan 1985

09/28/08 6:11 pm

Lynch vs ?

Has Kenney done any campaigning? Other than a few roadside signs I bet most folks don’t even know he’s running. The poling results are no surprise at all.

09/28/08 7:36 pm

no one knows results count

kenney 50.000 votes
lynch 40.000 in sep
the only poll that counts is nov 4 votes...
oeps i tought no one knows he is running
but sep he has more votes? i wonder about the polls???

09/28/08 8:50 pm

Poor Casey

Her fingers must hurt from writing all those posts.

Say G'night Joe.

09/28/08 10:34 pm

Biundo

He has been in the news a lot more than Joe Kenney. He is a taxfighter. He knows how to raise money. Seems to fit the need.

09/29/08 12:16 am

Now Class

You spelled grammar wrong.

09/29/08 6:51 am

is coming but joe will sill stand....
go to work and steal some votes with your
lies
guess what if the smart votes are coming
joe will win

09/29/08 8:22 am

Lynch v. Kenney

Firstly, let's get something straight. We respect the service of anyone who has served in the armed forces. However, that service no more qualifies someone to serve in state elective office than does it qualifies McCain to serve as president. Secondly, all Kenney has going for him is that inane campaign slogan "Let's keep New Hampshire, New Hampshire". Well, Joe, the last guy who ran against Lynch had pretty much the same slogan, and he ended up where you will end up, on the slag heap of feckless Republicans who have no plan.

09/29/08 10:14 am

same cheap democrat slogan

lynch is building a gay prison so he will
get a new job maybe he can do the ceremony himself that is the only thing he fight for in nh prison that gays can get married
give his buddy a job from $200.000 a year
and then after 5 months when she left
a golden handshake from $90.000
you call this leadership?
oeps kenney is going to lose because he is honest no taxschemes no illegal deals
wow free advertising for him
at least he doesn't need a million dollar
for ads on tv
say yes to crimals in the corner office

09/29/08 10:47 am

Unfair

This is a cheap shot, James. Only Joe Kenney stepped up to the plate and put his name out there for the Corner Office, and he's a worthy choice. It's too bad the media are writing him off, as you have done here. He deserves a chance to be heard.

09/29/08 10:49 am

Out of line

This post is way out of line, James.

The UNH poll is biased and isn't worth writing an entire blog post about.

Joe's the one who stepped up. Stop trying to stir up dissention in the GOP on behalf of Lynch.

09/29/08 12:14 pm

PinHeadPindell

What a pin-headed article by the biggest pin-head of the bunch at Politcker! Note to Pindell...grow up and become an actual journalist!

09/29/08 12:25 pm

unh oversampled republicans

remember dems are all up in arms that UNH oversampled republicans. according to UNH, McCain was winning, sununu cut the race very close, bradley was up. and kenney was at 17 percent. so that is his best case? Pindell wasn't making the case against kenney. His point was that he did step up and all those on the list didn't and should have.

09/29/08 12:34 pm

Lynch hand-holding?

If you bothered for one minute to talk to real working class people, those who own property and business owners, rather then to the selective push-polling that was done in Durham of all places, you would have gotten a different result.

Unless you're a recient transplant from our southern neighbor-state, I don't know of a single person who's voting for Lynch.

Lynch is killing this state with the new fees, new taxes, new restrictions and is making it harder for people to stay afloat in NH, much less start a new business here. Too many politicians here in NH are under the mistaken impression that new spending programs are the answer to everything, just like many local officials believe we can shop our way out of any financial woes and open more shops on the boarder.

How is John Lynch bringing new business and new jobs here? NH should be and could be a leader in high tech manufacturing and development since so many companies are looking to get out of Massachusetts... or is it

Jim Pindell, I'm just wondering - was someone from the Lynch Camp giving you a shoulder rub while you were typing this? Or did they just e-mail it to you and you just thew your name on it?

09/29/08 12:38 pm

I will give James credit for one thing

At least James is allowing the harshly critical comments to stand. His understudy rips down critical comments within minutes.

09/29/08 12:57 pm

Appropriate quote..

"There are laws to protect the freedom of the press's speech, but none that are worth anything to protect the people from the press." - Mark Twain

09/29/08 1:13 pm

blantant bias

This is a biased and rather mean-spirited post, and James Pindell should know better. The fact is, these other people on the list didn't step into the race, and Joe did. Joe has a great deal of experience and would be an excellent governor, but many of these names he's listed, to be honest, would not.

They gave up their right to oppose him, and the right of the media to second-guess the GOP was lost when they failed to jump into the race. (And I hardly think James would be cheerleading for any one of these 62 names had they won the nomination.)

I think a previous poster has it right - James is just stirring up the pot and trying to cause controversy amongst Republicans here. I don't see this as newsworthy, or even blog-worthy.

09/29/08 1:20 pm

benson man enough

at least governor benson was man enough for not taking money and give it to other people
he left a surplus
lynch got more then a million from taxpayer as a salary
bankcrupt the state he should give the money back to the taxpayer he is not worth a dime
and the mansion what he is building
should be sold to cover the debt
the popular vote was conducted by dummies
asking dummies so what is the result?
dumn vote for dumm lynch
ask a smart person they want to hear nothing from him only dummies

09/29/08 3:54 pm

phony list

no on on the list will make it the only one
is kenney use your time wise

09/29/08 4:15 pm

Better?

That there are others out there who COULD have run is undeniable, as this list shows. That there is only one who bothered is also undeniable.

Thank God Sen. Joe Kenney is the one who put his name on the line to run. He's a dedicated public servant with vision who we Republicans can have no trouble supporting.

09/30/08 9:35 am

Kenney Should Be Proud to Top This List

Joe was the ONLY republican in this state to step up and show some leadership. Republicans owe him a lot.
Every person on that list probably considered a run, and every one of them coward out against a very beatable governor.
In my book, very few of them have earned the right to run in 2010.

09/30/08 10:03 am

no guts

the ones on the list has name or money
but no guts none of them will make it
only the one with guts
pin use next time your right brain
and stop discriminating
go back to germany

09/30/08 12:15 pm

moslims

lynch failed to lead had irrational spending
waste taxpayer money create the worst deficit
in history and he is running again?
and the sheeps that follow him must be moslims they must thinking the same as him
we don't have to go overseas the bad guys are
under our nose
keep blind people
you have only 1 last chance before NH is forever lost

09/30/08 2:11 pm

not smart

i tought pindell was smart but has nothing
no story to come up with then this ridiculous
fabricated subject
well pindell nov 4 if joe wins you will
have the best story in your life to write

09/30/08 10:49 pm

Lost respect

I can't tell you how many Republicans, moderates and conservatives alike, have lost respect for James Pindell after reading this posting. What a shame.
