Hodes, Shea-Porter voted no

New Hampshire's two members of Congress voted no on the Wall Street bailout bill moments ago.

U.S. Reps. Paul Hodes and Carol Shea-Porter will be holding conference calls soon.

Yesterday U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg said of the bill: “If we don’t pass it, we shouldn’t be a Congress.”

Establishment Jeb would have voted for this.

Once every 500th vote, we can be thankful that common sense lines up, however incidentally, with the socialist tendencies of America's far left.

Thank you for listening

Thank you, Reps. Hodes and Shea-Porter for bucking your party leadership and voting with the will of the people. This helps restore a bit of my confidence in Congress.

Though I am glad they voted

Though I am glad they voted no, the republicans ruined Pelosi's anticipation of 95 republicans voting yes for the doomed bill. This would of shielded the blue dogs and freshmen like Hodes and Shea Porter. Why else would 40% of dems vote no and risk embarrassing the House Speaker from their own party.

I guess the joke is on San Fran Nan.

Surprising

I am truly surprised by Shea-Porter and Hodes' votes here. They certainly will be hard pressed to be called Pelosi's lackeys after this one.

I wonder how Bradley will position himself on this issue now. Horn had already come out against the bailout.

I hope you can still walk to

I hope you can still walk to your new job even with the bullet hole in your foot. My vote for you just went Republican.

Hodes and Shea-Porter looking out for us!

No doubt, they're looking out for us here in NH - too many Granite Staters have lost their homes as a result of this debacle. I'm in Hodes district and will be voting for him, and Shea-Porter was right to cast her vote today rather than debate.

Go Carol and Paul!

Credit bailout bill

To clarify - the symbolic bullet in your foot is purely self inflicted. I had hoped a Democratic majority in Congress next year would help "throw the rascals out" but not at the expense of my 401(K).

You don't get the vote of my extensive family and circle of friends this November.

It's the economy Stupid.

Bailout

Thanks to Shea-Porter and Hodes for no votes on this absurd bailout plan. Let's urge them to continue their opposition to this crazy notion that a financial "armageddon" will be upon us if a bailout is not passed. That's just crap! Let the MARKET take care of it. Sound familiar!!!!!!

09/29/08 6:47 pm

Thank you NH Congressional Delegation

Finally! It's about time those who represent us in Washington listen to us! NO MORE! I couldn't get a "bailout" for poor financial decisions, nor could I get a "loan" as they are calling it now. Both parties in Washington stood by as this was unfolding, for months and months and months. The sad thing is WHO do we as americans vote for? Neither McCain or Obama are qualified! They too are to blame for all of this. We need real options for REAL CHANGE!!!

09/29/08 7:54 pm

To Carol and Paul: Are you

To Carol and Paul: Are you trying to kill the economy?!? Why would you vote to cripple the country and force job losses just because a bunch of uneducated half-wits called your office telling you to vote no. I voted for Paul Hodes in 2006 to help clean up DC and grow the economy, not force us into a depression. Not so sure I'm voting for Mr. Hodes again after today!

Dumb and Dumber

Are you all morons that moved up here from Mass? Please, we needed this to pass so that banks would be able to get rid of the bad debt, and the regular folks of NH can get back to life. Small and big businesses need lines of credit and business loans to get by when their customers (other business) take a while at repaying them for services or products. We need those loans and lines of credit to help payroll and to keep our businesses running and growing. Guess what…those lines of credit are drying up now. And with consumer credit dried up, people can’t purchase from businesses. Some of you make businesses out to be the bad guys…well, tomorrow, when you go to work, remember that you’re going to work at a business – that business might need a loan or line of credit someday, and if it can’t get it, then you’re out of a job. Hodes and Shea-Porter are about as clueless as most of you on this board.

Dems Vote No

Most reports claim it was a deluge of calls from their electorate that caused some House Dems to vote against the bailout. I wonder if that’s the case here. Anyway the bill as presented was flawed. As an undecided voter I’m tempted to vote for Shea-Porter in November for going against Pelosi and listening to what the voters have to say.

Your all crazy. Some of us

Your all crazy. Some of us dont want to be paying for this for the rest of our lives when the badly written plan was for one person to be in charge of who gets 'bailed out'.

Thank you Hodes and Shea Porter for voting in the best interest of NH voters.

Kudos to our Reps for voting no

I am pleasantly surprised that both of our Reps voted no on this bill. Yes we need to take action to avert a deepening crisis but this bill was being forced on us before anyone had a grasp of what was happening.

I am shocked that Judd Gregg became the chief doom and gloom prognosticator of the senate, making dire predictions of total economic ruin if we dont pass this legislation immediately. I think he may have damaged his future political prospects by this (unless his predictions come true).
